Mikage

Boring. Boring, boring, boring.

How terribly dull it all was, being back in Hi no Kuni, the Land of Fire. It had been about a full day since setting foot across the border, returning from the Kaze no Kuni, and already, Mikage had lost sight of why she had been so greatly anticipated her return home. The Land of Wind had one major problem that the young kunoichi had discovered upon setting foot on the most common terrain in the land - the sand. It would take a rather unintelligent person to not be able to register that the Land of the Wind, where the Village Hidden in the Sand stood, was primarily a large desert, but clearly, Mikage didn't think things through when she had spontaneously decided that she wanted to travel there. Everything about the sand was an annoyance, the way it absorbed the heat in the day, burning the soles of her feet, the way it gave off a sizzling, sweaty smell, and - most importantly - the way it clogged up the bells on her anklet, getting in the way of her clan ability. Home. She should be glad that she was home, given what she had to put up with in Kaze no Kuni.

Though home was a rather ambiguous term in her situation; to someone living within the walls of Konohagakure, she was a stranger in their lands, as it was generally thought that the lands revolved around their main village. It was quite burdensome to be always treated like an outsider in the land she had been born in, but not all that surprising, considering the fact that she lacked any form of identification that would mark her as a kunoichi of Konoha - namely, the headband. A silly thing, really, to have to wear something that so obviously stated who you were allied with. Glances of curiosity were cast her way, nothing out of the ordinary, but the fourteen year old girl, dressed in a light white dress, always seemed to attract some amount of attention. Though she looked young, she didn't appear young enough to still be playing with dolls, yet a rabbit plushie was hugged against her body with one arm as Mikage walked through the streets of Konohagakure. Walked wasn't the correct term. Skipped, more like, as she pranced lightly through the crowds, weaving in and out in her haste to find something interesting to do.

That in itself was a difficult task. It was hard to find something interesting enough to keep her attention for longer than a handful of seconds. Maybe she should go to the training grounds and find someone to play with. Or go taunt her mother by announcing her presence, then disappear again. "Neh ~ Onee-chan, what do you think we should do? Should we go visit mommy, or do something else?" She whispered to the rabbit, drawing more curious gazes her way as people realized she was talking to the plushie and referring to it as 'sister'. But while Mikage was entirely aware that there was extra attention on her, she didn't react, used to it and secretly loving the amount of attention she was getting. A weird girl she was, but attention was attention, and the more that was on her, the better she felt.

It felt good to be the one that was noticed.

Now, if only she could find something to do. Deciding that she would go with the plan of seeking out people to 'play' with, she wandered towards the small training grounds behind the Academy, intent on finding perhaps someone to train with, or even converse with.

Tadashi

Tadashi

There Tadashi stood, in the main streets of Konoha, with Mitsuru by him as always, battle ready. You could see him standing in front of one of the local market stalls, conversing with one of his most favorite salesladies as his luscious blonde hair blew in the wind. This saleslady was his favorite specifically because she sold his favorite fruit, apples. "Just apples today, please," You could hear him say as he threw the necessary coins on the counter. Quickly, the lady quickly pocketed the coins, and filled up a bag with the shiny red apples that were behind her and handed it to Tadashi. As Tadashi turned around, he lazily waved his goodbye, and then he saw -her-.

A girl in a white dress, skipping her way through the crowds with what seemed to be a rabbit plushy in her hands. Like Tadashi, everyone in the streets suddenly stopped what they were doing, their eyes immediately following the girl. She looked as if the stares didn't bother her, she almost looked as if she enjoyed them. You had to admit that this girl -was- weird, especially when she SPOKE to the stuffed rabbit. There was no headband on her head, meaning one of two things. She either wasn't part of the village, or she just didn't enjoy wearing. The most probable one being the first, since Tadashi has never seen this woman in his life, and it seemed like neither did anyone else.

As the girl got a distance away, everyone went back to their usual business, some even talking about her. Tadashi kept staring though, curious on where she was going. And as Tadashi looked ahead of her, he saw that she was going towards the Academy. His father's academy. As soon as this realization processed through his brain, Tadashi immediately ran the same way, intent on figuring out what she was doing, or even where she was going. Mitsuru would soon follow in suit of Tadashi, weaving his way through people's knees. As Tadashi neared the girl, he quickly grab her on the shoulder, attempting to stop her. "Hey," he said, slightly out of breath, "Where are you uh.." He continued, seeming nervous, "Where are you going?" He said, the last question barely coming out.

She could sense someone following her. There were still a handful of people around, but with every step she took, she could register where they were, where they were headed. But this one was different. He was getting closer, moving at a pace faster than her own, and making an unmistakeable beeline towards her. Since her travel to Kaze no Kuni, she knew the range of her sensory had increased, and that very fact made her grin. It had been increasing little by little, but it was now at the point where it was unquestionably obvious. And it felt good. When she had first begun to develop the clan's kekkei genkai, it was a measly one or two meters, completely useless if she had her eyes opened. Back then, there was no need to have sensory, not if said sensory was only able to 'sense' the movement of people so close to her. It was different now. Even if she sat down and closed her eyes, she could sense up to twenty meters in all directions around her, map out her surroundings without using her eyes.

That was exactly what she was doing now. She waited until he was nearly within arm's reach before turning around, knowingly interrupting his attempt to grab at her shoulder. Her eyes narrowed briefly at the outstretched hand, before her mouth quirked up into a little smile in greeting. He was breathless, surprisingly so, given that it wasn't a large distance he had to cover to get to her. But she paid it no mind upon realizing that he was speaking to her, trying rather hard to pay attention to his words. He appeared to be asking her where she was going, to which she tilted her head in puzzlement, giving off the appearance that she didn't understand what he was asking. Why would it matter to him where she was going? It wasn't as though she had done anything illegal - and even if she did, she doubted that they would send what appeared to be someone her age and skill level to apprehend her. Mikage took a moment to consider her options, reminding herself that she was rather bored, and had been looking for someone random to 'play' with. Might as well be this person, seeing as he had so kindly presented himself to her. The word play meant the same way as it would to younger children, with a limited vocabulary and inability to use specific words of replacement. To Mikage, play was used for just about everything. To talk to someone, to train with someone, to toy with someone, to mark someone as prey. Everything was treated as a game, whether friendly or hostile.

In this case, with her current mood, the likelihood that she meant friendly play was rather high. But her mood and actions always tended to change on a whim.

"To the training grounds behind the Academy! Mikage likes to train there sometimes, or watch other people train." She would reply rather honestly, nodding her head once as though to confirm her words. Like always, she was referring to herself in third person, a rather strange antic for someone who was already fourteen years old. It was something that could be described as cute or endearing, but also rather strange, when it became apparent that she never stopped referring to herself as "Mikage"; it was rare to ever hear her call herself by the first person pronoun "I". "Say, are you headed there too? Mikage and Misaki don't come to Konoha often, it's no fun when it's empty there." Continuing on with her words, she would invite him with her, dropping her sister's name casually, as though a third person really was standing with them. She pointed at the training grounds, feet shifted on the spot in her eagerness to get there already - hopefully with a new companion. Normally she would have walked off by now, not paying attention to whether the invitation was accepted or not. But every other time she had tried that, she usually ended up alone, and that wasn't something she wanted to repeat. Not when she was this bored, with nothing to do but wander. The soft ringing of the bells on her anklet could be heard to anyone paying particularly close attention, quietly playing their little melody over and over without tiring, steady, but still managing to give off an impatient feel, as though reflecting their owner's thoughts.
