1Save the Cat [Suna D-Rank mission] Empty Save the Cat [Suna D-Rank mission] Sun Oct 06, 2013 6:14 pm

Misoka

Misoka

D-rank
She pulled the hood far down her face and briskly walked through the streets, trying not to draw too much attention. Wearing her Sunagakure flak jacket which she hadn’t put on in weeks, she hoped to appear as an ordinary kunoichi off to do a mission or something. At the same time, Misoka couldn’t believe she had truly managed to escape her bodyguard. He might act like it, but Taku wasn’t as attentive and dutiful as all her other bodyguards before. Otherwise, he would’ve never let himself be distracted so easily.
Misoka’s heart hammered against her chest and part of her urged her to turn and see whether she was being followed. But she didn’t. There were more important things to take care of. For now, she had to go to her father. He would be the first person they’d take hostage once again. And she couldn’t allow it. Not a chance. He was the only real family she had left.
The sun was glaring down upon the village and the streets were filled with people doing errands or simply meeting up for little chats.
Just then a loud whining voice startled her.
“Please, oh please, I need help! It’s my cat! She ran away and ... and climbed up the Kazekage’s tower and I can’t get her down! She’s so afraid, it breaks my heart! Oh please, someone help me! Is there a shinobi anywhere?”
Misoka didn’t know what exactly had made her stop in her tracks. Was it only the crying young girl who tried to get help? Or was it the thrill of doing “shinobi work” after all this time? Perhaps a combination of both.
Hesitantly, she approached the girl, making sure her face was still concealed by her hood. “I can help. Please show me the way. And please hurry.”
She couldn’t afford to lose too much time. But her task was simple enough: All she had to do was get that cat down safely. A piece of cake.
“Y-Yes,” the cat’s owner stammered before nodding into the direction she’d come from. “It’s this way.”

---
The poor animal meowed and meowed as if crying for help.
“Don’t worry,” Misoka mumbled, both to the cat and its owner, and started sending chakra to her feet. The next moment, she was walking up the tower effortlessly until she reached the top and could take the cat into her arms. “I’ve got you.”
The girl almost exploded with happiness when she got her pet back. “Oh, thank you, thank you! I promise you’ll get a reward! I’m so glad Pussy is back. Yes, Pussy, who is a good girl? YOU are a good girl!”
“Um, yes, don’t mention it. I have to get going now.” While the girl was still busy hugging her cat, Misoka hurried back to the main street. When she turned around the corner, though, Taku was standing in front of her.
She froze.
“Did you like that?” He asked calmly, a thin smile tugging at his lips. “The little time by yourself?”
Her heart sank. It had all been for nothing. In the end, they would always find her. She kept silent, knowing there was nothing she could say anyway. What would her punishment be this time?
Then she heard Taku chuckle slightly. “Did you just play ninja over there? Saved the cat?”
“I didn’t play, I am a kunoichi,” she snapped back angrily as her frustration threatened to spill over.
Taku’s smile diminished and he tilted his head to the side. “Do it again.”
“What?”
“Missions. I’ll stay near you, but I won’t tell the leader.”
Misoka blinked in surprise. “Why would you let me do that?”
Silence. Then he looked up into the sky, only shrugging his shoulders. “I have my reasons.”
