Clan History:

"All the legends of Kirigakure, first come from the Sea..."

It would be foolish for a man to think that sapient life sprang from the mountains or plains of the land, the clouds or roaring winds of the sky, or even the vast emptiness of the outside, beyond the dark void of space. The spark of life sprung from the wellspring of the sea... At the beginning of time, at the creation of the world under the guise of the eternal lovers Izinagi and his wife, it was their eighth child who was given dominion of all of the oceans, and so the great god Watatsumi or Ryujin was born. However it was not long before the darkness of the depths overcame him, plunged into a world void of light. It was this lord of the seas who, due to a sense of loneliness and needing to belong, created life to accompany him within the dark depths of his lands... His brother of the earth Ohoyamatsumi, saw the life that his brother had created, and asked him to share it with him. Graciously, Watatsumi accepted, but on the provision Ohoyamatsumi shared with him the plants and jewels of the land to build and light his kingdom in return.

So it was, that man walked from the sea to set upon the land with the creatures of the earth behind them.

For eons man payed homage to the sea due to their ancestry, Emperors going so far as to use closer relation to Ryujin to better claim their positions as lords among lords, and beatify themselves in the eyes of their people. Other gods like Tsukoyomi even fashioned their own humanity out of jealous wanton desire, those men, distant cousins, however, as time passed, the Otsusuki stayed much purer to their deific roots and power.

But just because man was shared with the land, does not mean he was given in its entirety... Ryujin had kept his children close to him, creating a kingdom of coral and life which spread out across the Ocean floor as far as the eye could see. The children of dragons were depicted with long flowing silk-like fins which fell from their backs in place of wings, with barbed horns much like a sea-horses combined with scaled features across their body. Many a story across the island nations of the world tells of these 'children of dragons,' and those who claimed to have married or descended from them, to sailors who had either crossed them or been lucky enough to be aided by them, against the many horrors the oceans have to offer.

Eventually however, save for the scrolls of legends, tall tales and the carvings of the wall, the children of the sea were all but forgotten. Until a daughter of Ryujin, Otohime, fell for a hunter named Hoori. Hoori had lost a jeweled and sacred family hook that he had used for fishing that day, before stumbling on the curious Otohime. Otohime, had been watching the hunter and fisherman for some time, curious to the traits of the earth-born man. Dumb-struck by her beauty, the helpless man could do nothing but humbly accept the strange yet beautiful maidens request to help him in retrieving the hook which had supposedly been carried off by the tides. Undergoing many trials together, the two ultimately fell in love, retiring to Ryujin's kingdom to live with each other for many years. Otohime revealed that it was her who had taken the hook to begin with, to keep Hoori next the sea, and, finally Hoori bent the hook into the shape of a band for the sea goddess to wear upon her wrist and they would be bound in marriage.

Though, as always man longs for which he had lost

Hoori found himself longing for the land once again, often caught staring towards the surface, and so, Otohime followed her husband to live in his native lands. While she was with his child, Hoori built the two of them a castle next to the sea, within view of her father's ever expanding kingdom. It was here that she would birth their first and only child. But, moments before, Otohime asked her husband that he not be present for the birthing. Hoori accepted, but could not shake mans insatiable curiosity that had been piqued at the bizarre request, so he spied upon her from a distance using the spyglass he'd used for hunting, thinking he could not be sensed by the goddess. What he saw was not his wife, but a long and elegant dragon cradling a humanoid son whom she named Mokoto (Ugayafukiaezu). Sensing her husband, and betrayed by Hoori breaking his promise, Otohime abandoned her son and husband, retreating to the ocean, never to forgive him for his transgression and never to be seen again.

Such, was the first member of the Sangotatsu clan born.

After some years, Otohime's sister was gifted to Hoori on behalf of Ryujin, due to her sister having broken her sacred vow, swearing to use her blood in order to ensure the clans eternal strength. Lending it though sacrifice every unknown generation, so that the descendants of Hoori would never truly lose their crested dominion of the waves.

The children of Otohime.

Sangotatsu Clan 1aa906a103be198ce63907ce5723647b
"Otohime was widely considered the most beautiful woman of the land;
and too wielded the power of chakra in a time when its use was young."

Kekkei Genkai Description:
The members of the Sangotatsu clan benefit from the divine blood which runs thick through their blood-stream. Members of the clan do not quite appear like the regular person, depending on their age, they progressively grow long barbed horns much like that of a traditional dragon. They naturally grow pointed nails and their eyes progressively become more amber before ultimately becoming bright and almost luminescent gold. These traits lead Sangotatsu clan members to be exceptional swimmers, able to hold their breath much longer than even the most skilled divers, though far from limitless, and have perfect underwater vision in most waters. Aside from the physiological and the rich silks they are often draped with, what truly separates the Sangotatsu clan members from the rest of the world it their mastery over Suiton chakra, and their ability to manipulate it at their will. The Sangotatsu, upon the activation of any suiton technique, can pay an additional -5 chakra in order to generate their suiton release as either pure water, or splice it with either yin release or yang release to make their water techniques vastly more versatile in specific situations.

  • "Crystal" Suiton: 'Crystal' Suiton, are the names given to techniques which utilize the 'art of clear water' the user, with little more concentration, focuses in ensuring that the water they create is pure H2O, making it far more dense and removing its prior weakness of being a natural conductor of electricity. Crystal Suiton as it sits is almost invisible to the naked eye, looking like the clearest crystal glass or simply as if it's not there at all.

'Crystal' Suiton techniques performed by the Sangotatsu clan, due to the lack of ionized substances in the water, resist Raiton / Doton, competing with the solid and electrical element on a fair and even playing ground of pressure VS power. Thus, 'Crystal' Suiton sheds its weakness to the sedimentary element while refusing to conduct any Raiton Techniques like normal water release but still retaining its positive affinity against Katon.

  • "Ruby" Suiton: 'Ruby' Suiton techniques are those which the Sangotatsu splice large swells of yin chakra into, creating a powerful imbalance which alters the appearance of the water into a lighter, pinkish red which becomes more crimson with greater and greater volumes. The water resembles that of water seen in high salt areas such as the red sea or sodium plantations and looks and feels just as unhealthy to the touch as it seems, as it seems to drain the energy out of those it touches like ice pulling heat from a warm stone.

The nature of Yin release is negative, a draining force which pulls at all things which are living. Such is true for the Yin laced 'Ruby' Suiton. 'Ruby' Suiton for up to one post after the end of a techniques duration, makes non clan members who are hit by / drenched with the 'Ruby' water feel lethargic and drained, making techniques they activate cost an additional 5 chakra for the duration or until the victim dries themselves.

  • "Jade" Suiton: 'Jade' Suiton takes on the emerald colour of the sea when it is bountiful with life, the coral greens of the lively reefs that extend across Ryujins kingdom. It is bountiful with minerals and chakra which are widely considered to be restorative, and are calming to behold or manipulate. The reason for this, is, unlike the 'Ruby' Suiton techniques, 'Jade' Suiton uses the bountiful nature of a positive Yang imbalance to enrich itself, benefiting the user.

'Jade' Suiton techniques used by members of the Sangotatsu Clan are vastly easier to channel and perform due to their chakra rich nature, creating a more bounteous effect when they are used. The sheer volume of the water created by these techniques increases their effective ranges and diameters by 10m (+10m to range / +5m to Radii). Allowing them to better fuel later Suiton techniques which require more water as if their water source were a rank higher.

Members of the Sangotatsu clan receive +1 tier to both their Perception and Reaction speed Stats.

Drawbacks:
Though the Kekkei Genkai of the Sangotatsu is one that many consider difficult to contend with on the battlefield, they have their own fair share of limitations. Their water techniques, while they allow a grand degree of versatility, due to their natures it is exceedinly difficult to combine them through any normal means, leading the clan to only being able to use one additional application at a time without extreme measures. Not to mention, that due to their unique physiology, anonymity is difficult to truly attain.

  • Elementalists: Members of this clan have a focus on their Suiton element more than almost any other facet of their trainings, as such, Suiton must be taken as the primary element of members of this clan, and they must take the Hesitant (Specialization) negative special characteristic (SC) without being able to balance it with an additional positive SC.

  • Suiton Aligned: Having such an affinity for water creates a deep rooted connection in both the clan member's body and their own chakra, leaving them vulnerable to the element diametrically opposite to their own. Members of the Sangotatsu clan recieve +1 rank of damage from Raiton techniques.

  • Noble Stature: While many members of the Sangotatsu clan have been mythical swordsmen and master martial artists, few of them have ever been overly masculine or bulky in size and stature. Often Fox-featured and genetically lean, but by no means without muscle or natural athleticism. Sangotatsu clan members recieve -2 tiers to their endurance stat.

  • Ocean Born: 'Men long for what they have lost...' and it is no less true for the Sangotatsu, as part of them will always be drawn to the open sea. Their heart and inner love for the sea ever pulls them towards it, leading them away from inland nations and back to the island nations where their hearts belong. While in nations other than kirigakure no sato, or while away from major bodies of water (be it a Nile-esque river, or shore-side) Sangotatsu clan members receive a penalty of -10 chakra to their chakra pool.
