training:

Raishi had woken up quite early that morning. As usual, he had been on the rooftop of his house, watching the stars as they started to vanish in the sky, flying away from the majesty of the Sun. This was the best part of his day....the morning. He would always watch the sun rise, a beautiful scene, which always made him thankful for his own life.
After the sun had risen, Raishi then had his usual jog round the village, saying hello to whoever he passed with a wide grin on his face. He was always giving a warm welcome in reply. This was a very good morning for him, and he had the idea that he would enjoy today quite well. He was sporting a black, sleeveless vest, with his clan symbol on the back, neck area, and a dark pair of trousers, with his standard ninja sandals. He had not worn his flack jacket this morning, as it would have weighed him down. In his right trouser pouch, was the mission scroll of the Lifetime mission, as he had not done it yet; and he promised himself that he wouldn't enter the complex until he had completed that mission.

After his jog around the village, he had stopped at the Fissure Training Grounds, so he could train some. He never really planned on train actual jutsu, he just wanted to make sure he was still in shape. He made a couple of stretches, ready to start his little training session. He had stretched for some 5 to 8 minutes, before he started with his plyometric lateral push ups...a new variation of the usual plyometric he was used to. After doing 50 reps and two sets, he then stood up, looking all round his current location. Just as he had expected, the place was a bit empty looking...
Maybe people don't wake up as early as I do in this village.....
With that, Raishi giggled to himself...he was actually so weird. nowadays, he would watch himself become a psycho. As if the nightmares weren't enough...

Well, as long as he was here in the training grounds, he might as well train up his Earth element. Being his secondary element, he was not as proficient in Earth as he was in Fire, so he needed to train it up so he could learn more complex Earth jutsu. If only he had somebody to train with...

Spoiler:

This... was a lovely day. Zen was happy. His Accelerated-Aging Disorder, recently proven by the doctors not to be progeria exactly, had gone into slight remission. Though that didn't stop the incurability of it, Zen was just elated to be feeling good again. If he was going to die....he might as well be happy. Naturally, it would be absolutely amazing if he could somehow live through it, but.....He wanted to live his dream first. He would become Iwa's first functioning ANBU captain in a long time.

Zen began thinking on his way down to the Training Grounds. Why is it that I want to get stronger? Do I really have a reason? What Zen could not discern was if his power was truly necessary. What did he need to do? The Kyouga thought that he would probably find out once he had obtained that power. The black-clad young man had nearly arrived.

Either way, the only way to get stronger was to train. Zen had just gotten to the Training Grounds when he noticed someone doing grueling physical exercises. He remembered when he could do those with ease...No, no, no! Stop thinking old, or you'll become old outright! Might as well engage the guy...

Walking up to the young man, who dwarfed him by an inch or two (Accelerated Aging has the benefit of making you taller, eh?), Zen greeted him. "I....don't believe we've met. A pleasure to do so, naturally. At your service....Kyouga Zenchi." Right as he started saying his name, the mirror-wielder removed the absolutely obscuring hood of his Black Coat. After that, he would extend his hand for shaking. Customary greeting.

"I....don't believe we've met. A pleasure to do so, naturally. At your service....Kyouga Zenchi."

The voice had made Raishi to jump up in surprise. He had not been actually paying attention to his surroundings....he was deep in thought like he usually was, physically there, but mentally miles away.
The figure had introduced himself as Zenchi Kyouga.......another clan that Raishi did not know damn thing about. He really was an ignorant kid, never actually paying attention to news. That had got to change.... Back to the present.
The man was surprisingly taller than himself, but only a little, insignificant difference, even though it was noticeable. He was wearing a Black Coat, had taken off the hood so Raishi could see his face properly, then extended his hand for shaking. Polite and classy. Raishi liked him already.

"Nice to see a new face, the name's Raishi Kanetsu, Special Jounin of Iwagakure"

Raishi had taken Zenchi's hand and shook him, with a warm and welcoming smile. Special Jounin....he loved the way it sounded as he said introduced himself to Zenchi. He knew it may have seemed cocky, but he was honestly just being his usual, free and open self.

"So what are you doing up so early? Training?"

Ah, a member of the Kanetsu clan...what was their specialty, again? It escaped Zen, at the moment....but he had certainly heard of the clan. Raishi was.... interesting, to say the least. He was a bit of a contradiction. The handshake was formal, the introduction a bit pretentious. Was that the right word...? Eh, whatever.

"Huh....Special Jounin, mm? Quaint. As am I....hm. An idea popped into my head. Why don't we make a bit of Ryo off our training....Interested?"

Zen put up his hood as he looked into the distance. He could see Waterfall Point from here. Serene, even from this distance. Awaiting his fellow Iwa-nin's response, he stood with his back to the Kanetsu, hands behind his back contemplatively. Then again, when wasn't he pensive? Always thinking, always.

So he is a Special Jounin as well uhn....
The fact that this kid was a Special Jounin as well made Raishi think about how strong, because he certainly looked strong. He had also mentioned something about making ryo out of training? Raishi then remembered the Lifetime mission scroll he hadn't completed yet. Someone of the same rank... Raishi's eyes widened as he was about to respond.

"Actually, that's just what I need right now."

As he responded, he looked at Zenchi, who's back was to him now and his hood was up. This kid was definitely mysterious and a very critical thinker......almost like himself, just without all the smiles and silliness. Looking at Zenchi, Rai began realising that he had to change. Sure, he had already started changing physically, but mentally he was still the same kid that used to suck his thumb in the Academy. He had to grow up. He was a Special Jounin now. no longer an Academy Student.

Straightening up, Raishi awaited to see what exactly Zenchi had in mind.

In any event, I can guess what you're thinking... Let's begin."
Okay....had to be careful with this one. He was of the same rank as Zenchi... plus he was of a particular clan. Zen's thoughts started racing...he knew this... Yoton. That's what it was. An advanced element....Zen's clan had a similar thing, though it wasn't an element in itself. Zen would have to be careful...something named Corrosion Style wasn't going to be easy to prevail against.

Zen began by using the Mirror Creation jutsu. Simple enough; five hand seals for a jutsu that was the base for most of his other ones. Dragon, ox, boar, horse, ram. And then... well, there was nothing to do but to wait for Raishi. Zen did take the initiative; now he had to react to whatever Raishi was going to do.

Even from behind Zenchi, he could see that he was weaving a few handseals.....he could not be sure what exactly he was up to but just by his looks, Raishi could tell that this was going to be a strong opponent....
He simply did a few handsprings back 5 or so meters, making sure to create some space between the two of them....
As he landed firm on his feet, he made sure to get ready to quickly weave any handseals to counter Zenchi.
Since he was training his Earth element, he would only use Earth Style jutsu for this spar.....at least that was what he intends to do.

All right....Zen was getting irritated. The best of them knew that patience was a virtue....but this was ridiculous. The mirror-wielder would not have this. If Raishi wouldn't make the first move....oh well.

Zen began by making the Hare seal. About seven mirrors stuck to his body, then copied Zen. That is, they copied the wavelengths of light that he gave off. That way....a clone would be formed. Exactly the same as the Kyouga that made it. Zen would close Raishi into a corner...that would not be a trouble at all. What, with all of his dodging and fancy back-flipping. A long-range fighter, probably....Zen couldn't say that he wasn't one himself, but he was working on that. He decided to test out the philosophy of a martial art he'd been studying.... Jeet Kune-Do. It dictated that it wasn't really a style in itself, more like an un-style....it said to be like water, adapt to the situation. Zen supposed that kept opponents on their toes...hopefully he could do the same with Raishi.

Raishi, watching the Kyouga clan member with keen eyes, noticed that mirror like objects were now moving. After this, a clone seemed to appear from.....thin air.
After the appearance of the clone, Zenchi then advances towards him....probably trying to corner Raishi. Raishi didn't move as he was charged at. He was simply calculating his options, and best moves to make. He was to be careful with this ninja, as he may be quite the opponent. Analysing time.
In times of battle, Raishi prefered to slow his mind down, so he may take in every single detail so as to make the right move. We are in the Fissure Training Grounds, and I could use that to my advantage as I am an Earth Style ninjutsu specialist as well as Fire. There is roughly a 5 meters space between Zenchi and I that is getting smaller and smaller each second. I am a long range fighter. Zenchi, seemed to be close range as he is charging at me. I need space, then I can make a decision.

In an instant, Raishi jumped up, appearing 15 meters forward from his past position, which was about 10 or so meters behind Zenchi. The moment he landed, he began weaving handseals of a recent jutsu he had learned.Horse. Dog. Bird. Ox. Snake.

"Earth Style: Earth and Stone Dragon"

A stone dragon suddenely erupted from the ground, and Raishi sent it straight towards Zenchi, travelling at 30mph.

All right, then...now Raishi was going on the offensive. Zen, now, just had to make sure he either dodged or blocked...of which he did both. Well, not exactly. More like the two of him shared that responsibility.

The Mirror Clone he created was then filled with energy, primed to dodge. Zen had, with a thought, activated the Light-Speed Technique. It attempted to move out of Raishi's line of sight, using the original Zen's actions as a distraction. Speaking of which...

Zen made no move to try and dodge the dragon. All he did was...well, nothing. He concentrated, and with those thoughts, made a largely invisible barrier around himself. The Dosekiryuu, which was heading straight for him, probably would hit the Light Screen he had created. And with that....well, not a fun time for Raishi, to say the least. Zen's Reflect Arts barrier would do just that: reflect the Earth and Stone Dragon right back at its creator. It writhed, almost as if in pain, before being redirected back whence it came.

Meanwhile, the clone was attempting to move unnoticed. What with the Earth and Stone Dragon's reflection, Raishi's attention would probably be diverted. If the clone was able to, it would try a sneak attack on Raishi; grab him from behind, if possible. Using all the power available to it, it would do its best to keep the Kanetsu clansman in place while Zen prepared to cast another jutsu.

Zen worried....he had an appointment with the Tsuchikage to get to by five in the afternoon. He needed to end this quickly...and the Kyouga was not one to simply give up. "Oh, come on...you're the second advanced-element user I've faced. I hope you don't disappoint like Takumi managed to."

He was determined to end this quickly. Zen looked around at the surroundings...for the most part, flat. Which was good...he wouldn't be able to hide behind anything. Raishi's Dosekiryuu was rather formidable...but nothing compared to what Zen was preparing. After making a few hand seals, his clone would begin to glow. "Game, set, match." Even if Raishi had broken free from the clone's grasp, it would follow him intently. Seven mirrors exploding, each with the force of a paper bomb...well, to say the least, it wouldn't be pretty. When the clone exploded, it left a rather large crater in the ground where Zen's double once was. If Raishi managed to evade even that, Zen would proceed to continually bombard him with offenses.

The Kyouga crossed two half-tiger seals, and recited: "Reflect Arts! Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

A rather high-level technique...but Zen believed he could handle it. Two doppelgangers of the young man would appear on either side of him, and would await their opponent's next move. Their reactions would be as swift as the original. Now all that was left to do was to defeat Raishi...simple in theory, but would practice prove him wrong? Zen was rather giddy about this fight. Even if he loved to strategize during a battle, he loved even more when he couldn't account for some variables. Living on the edge, so to speak... The barren wasteland that was the Fissure Training Grounds brought out a fighting spirit, of sorts.

But that was it. There was no time....Zen needed to go. Now. If he didn't hurry, he wouldn't have enough time to speak with Tsuchikage Arashi. Or rather, the young Kyouga needed to get back to his house. He needed to get ready, as going as he was now...was probably not a good idea. His clothes were all dirtied up...it just was not good to present oneself like this in general. That's what you get for sparring right before an appointment, though....

"Apologies, Raishi...I have to go. I have to rendezvous with Arashi in about...fifteen minutes. For the purposes of the mission, you win by default. It was a pleasure, undoubtedly. A parting gift."

The mentioned gift was to consist of his Shadow Clones.... They wouldn't last long when Zen got out of range, but it would work well enough. The clones would use only physical hits on the Kanetsu to keep him busy....by that time, Zen would have already fled into the denser-populated areas of Iwagakure. Quickly, he hopped from roof to roof, until he arrived at his apartment. He would then use his aforementioned jutsu again....he needed to get multiple things done at once. The Shadow Doppelganger technique undoubtedly came in handy here. In about ten minutes, he was all prim and proper. Ready to go... he rushed to Arashi's office, and hoped that he would not be chastised for being late. He enjoyed his little diversion, though; would have to do it another time.
