Special characteristics are characteristics you can add to your character to personalize them and make them your own, with your own choice of advantages and disadvantages to augment your character to better represent what you envision your character to do. Each character on creation is able to choose up to three positive special characteristics, but no more (other than those which your clan may require you have). Then, for each positive special characteristic they chose, they must have at least one negative characteristic for each positive they have chosen. Though you can add as many negatives to your character as you would like.
When these are apped to your profile, it is required that the coding below the special characteristic be copied and pasted into your character profile, for uniformity and simplicity's sake. The spoiler tag can be seen as the white page with the yellow triangle in your writing tools. Simply highlight the text and click that to create a spoiler, adding the title of the characteristic. Note: That +1 tiers to stats attained through Special characteristics stack towards a maximum of +3 passive tiers a character is able to have at any one time.
- Agile:

Description: This individual is lean and agile, allowing them to move faster than most individuals and maintain burst speeds for 2 posts longer than normal. Their speed stat is increased by +1 tier.

- Ace Eye:

Description: This individual has incredibly sharp eyes. Due to this, they can hit moving targets, react to situations faster by visual cues, and are all-around better at pointing things out. They can also pick out minute details that those without this characteristic would overlook, allowing them to find flaws in illusory Genjutsu or detect traps a rank easier than they would otherwise be able to. The user also has +1 tier to their Perception stat.

Major Positive Special Characteristics are more powerful than their normal counterparts. Below is a list of Major Positive Characteristics, which each count as if they were two Positive Special Characteristics, taking two of the three available slots and each requiring two negatives in order to be balanced.
- Ironclad:

Description: This individual is incredibly physically frail. They bruise easily, and their bones are more brittle than most. Where most individuals would suffer a simple fracture, an individual with frail will suffer a broken bone. Ninja with this drawback also suffers -1 to their Endurance Stat.

Description: This individual is completely genetically sensationally impaired, and cannot perceive any form of physical stimuli. No item or jutsu can be used to restore 'their own' physical feeling to this individual. They cannot feel pain, or pleasure in any form, meaning they do not register wounds, or their scale. Touch or Contact based Genjutsu triggers still take effect.

Description: This individual is unable to walk, and must rely on a contraption or wheelchair to be mobile with movement equivalent to the base stat of the items rank. No Item or jutsu can restore their own means to walk and the user is unable to move with any speed above C-0 on the ground without viable means.

Description: This individual is incredibly overconfident in their abilities as a shinobi, to the point where they think it is almost impossible for them to lose against a foe. Because of this, shinobi with this special characteristic are unable to flee from combat in any capacity other than as a dodge in reaction to an attack except from foes which exceed their own Ninja Rank by two or more ranks (i.e - a C-ranked shinobi could only flee from an A-ranked or higher shinobi). This includes using bodyflicker to flee a thread before their Lethal Damage Threshold is triggered.

Description: This individual has anger issues. They can be set off by the most unimposing of things, and has a very difficult time suppressing his or her outbursts, be they verbal or physical. This will often lead them into foolish fights they would never enter under a reasonable mindset, even against friends or allies. Should a user with short fuse be infuriated, it lowers their ability to focus, making it harder to see fine details such as flaws in genjutsu, making them a rank harder to detect with perception.

Description: This shinobi is born with an illness or natural defect. Because of this, they have certain side effects in battle that reduce their natural capacities. After fighting for three posts, they will begin to feel the effects of the illness set in, weakening their body. Once this happens, they reduce a stat (chosen at creation) by -1 tier and worsen by an additional -1 every two posts afterward, up to a total of -4. The specific actual effects of the illness or defect can be specified in character.

This is debilitating for the individual, as he/she becomes exerted by high-level physical exertion and an increased heart-rate. If a subject attempts to exert this ninja physically with a technique or after this character uses their maximum strength/speed for 2 posts without rest, it will result in the individual erupting into a bleeding nose or other orifice(s) which will persist for 3 posts or until healed. This reduces the ninja's endurance stat by -1 tier as they're vulnerable.
