Mission:

The visage of the owl looked down upon the encampment below him, the village hidden in the leaf had gone too far. The imprisonment of criminals was one thing, but when the boy had heard that this encampment had made prisoners of innocent people he had to see it for himself. The young Anbu operative could not believe it, how could these so called Shinobi do this to the innocent lives that still struggled within the land of wind. While he understood the fact that they wanted to detain those who were helping the resistance against the conquest of the land, he could nor would not stand idly by and allow those whose only crime was the want to be left alone be held against their will. The boy scanned the area through the lens of his mask, from his vantage point he saw five men in total that were left behind by the Konohagakure army to watch over the prisoners. If he could make it to even one of the buildings that the prisoners were being held then there might be one or two among them that could help him fight, but he would be putting those he was trying to save in harms way and that was not something the boy was willing to do. The boy let out a soft sigh, it looked as if this might be something that he had to do on his own. If he was too attack the encampment openly he doubted even his own ability to take on all five of them even if they were not Shinobi, so his only choice was to attempt a covert operation and deal with the men one by one using his stealth to his advantage and hope that he would be able to deal with them before they could alert their comrades and receive help but the question became just how he was going to do that. As it stood now he saw no point in which he would be able to make his approach on the camp without one or more of them being alerted, the only reason he was able to stand here where he was to observe them was because he had himself hidden among the sand of the desert that surrounded him but if he were to move then there was a chance even if it was just a small one that he could be spotted.

The boy looked to the sky, the sun would be setting soon his best chance on a successful approach would be under the cover of the night sky. For now he would have to wait, and hope that with the fall of night also came a lax in the guard that he would be able to exploit.

Verdandi was coated with her black spy armor and skull mask. Her identity disguised. The mask of the skull company was a kiri-nin brigade of special forces. Mixed into ANBU and Hunter units. While Verd was still but an initiate. She had been allowed to put use of the disguise as she had crafted her own unique design of the skull mask. Just like every member does change their designs once in a while to keep things mixed up. The reason for this disguise was, that the ones sending Verd to this mission had mixed conflict of its legitimacy. Some of the Konoha officials were confronted about this afront of human rights by the kiri law enforcers, but neither of them could deny its truth or that the Konoha command had approved of this behaviour or not. Getting tired of being stalled by their allies. Kiri had dispatched Special Enforcer (in training) to deal with the situation. Or to say it bluntly. They sent an expendable trainee to do the job so they could wash their hands clean over a matter they didn't really care about but were forced by standards to investigate. While Verdandi was told to keep Kiri interests at heart she had full privileges to act accordingly. However keeping the laws of the mist in constant review. Targets have to be deemed guilty or not for keeping unnecessary civilians as prisoners. As the Bloody Mist's laws commit. One is not allowed to harass the civilians longer than necessary as the forces march forth into the land of the wind.

Continued on this mandate. Kiri law dictates that prisoners of war are not allowed other than for interrogation. Prisoners found guilty of their crime are to be instantly punished by either dismembering them of an appropriate number of limbs or through decapitation. Kiri does not keep prisoners of war and in situations of political problematic nature, Kiri expects its ally to follow suit and to not hide behind half witted answers. Verdandi expected that some of the generals in the Konoha forward army had their own interests at hand. She doubted that men like Rippa or Takao really knew about this and if they did, they were at wrong. But this could still all be but a staged situation by the criminal forces of Suna. For the purpose of investigating such, Verdandi had been dispatched in the first place. Once she arrived near the scene. Verd would do her usual thing. Keeping at distance. Searching for chakra sensory to potentially disturb her scouting. Setting a good perimeter at which she could take a peek while the enemy wouldn't instantly spot her. Using her Sharingan as so often to get a feeling of number of enemies, prisoners and other creatures within the camp. It wouldn't take all too long until Verdandi was absolutely certain that a lot of these chakra flames were way too stupidly strong for her to deal with this situation. She filed her initial report.

Moving back to checkpoint Charlie, Verd would bring distance between herself and the scary flames of chakra she had seen at this point. Contacting Kiri HQ would just reward her with a simple. "Keep on lookout" as she was certain they just brushed her off and expected her to not even really intervene with the situation in the first place. Verd didn't agree with that. She contacted Mercenary HQ, whom filed this independent mission to be open for pick. Reporting her sightings of high profile targets and requesting immediate backup to deal with the situation. Surprisingly Verdandi's request was quickly answered with the simple note. "Backup already underway or already in place. Return to your station and be ready for infiltration." She widened her eyes and scratched her head at the prospect that more mercenaries were already in on the move for this mission. Verdandi usually tried to keep at distance in missions like this. Exposing her chakra signature too often or regularly could bring problems along. She didn't like to be recognized by other merc's for whatever identity she was currently playing with. Verd would return back to her station but stay at a veeery clear distance to the target in question and for now she would simply observe. Nap, something she does a lot yes. And check on various radio frequencies nearby to see if she could intercept something of value.

Chakra 310 / 350:

By the time she was supposed to act. Verdandi had to admit that she wasn't comfortable with the mission briefing anymore. The potential risk of her being drawn to attack allies and create a political problem was getting too big. Verdandi shortly requested confirmation from Kiri HQ to opt out and withdraw Kiri presence even in Mercenary disguise from the mission. Leaving Verdandi to escape the premises and the mission itself in the capable hands of whomever still dared to accomplish it. Sometimes, it was better to back off and retreat than to just mindlessly jump into the dray of heat.
