Clan Name: Onoda (After a famed japanese hero / Guerilla fighter in Vietnam)
Location: Scattered
Specialization: Any
Elements: Any

The Onoda HhU72Pp
Clan History: The Onoda is an interesting bloodline because of it's diversity. Scouting and sensory experts have existed among all of the shinobi villages since the very beginning, individuals not meant as the front line in terms of battle, but took their place as indispensable reconnaissance. All sensory is not alike, and though this clan embodies one specific clan of sensory experts, there is no particular history among them aside from their vital position among the ranks of each and every strong shinobi army.
Members: N/A

Kekkei Genkai Name: Chakra Convection: The Art of the Wayfinder
Kekkei Genkai Description: Expert Scouts, the founders of this clan developed the Art of the Wayfinder as a way of manipulating ones chakra in tune with the natural state of the world around them so that it does not interfere with the natural processes of the world. Instead, matching the natural ebb, flow and machinations of the world around you, this art allows members of the Onoda clan to expand their signature techniques further due tot he lack of natural friction and resistance. A method that the ninja world has aptly called 'chakra convection' after the idea that they use convection currents in the world to enhance their own abilities.

'It is easier to cast your chakra like a leaf on the wind, than to force it upstream.'

  • Chakra Convection: The Natural process of flowing your chakra 'with' nature, rather than forcing your way through it. Sensory techniques used by members of the Onoda clan benefit from having +5m range / radii per rank beginning at Genin. As well as interacting with stealth techniques as if they are a rank higher due to their in built natural affinity, making it easier to discover techniques that defy the worlds' natural order. An Onoda's sensory techniques already work in conjunction with nature, and don't benefit further from doubling down in this manner. Sage Arts' +1 to interaction versus non-Senjutsu doesn't stack with the clan's bonus to sensory interaction.

  • Survivalists: Able to sustain themselves off of less and persist in even extreme environments due to much more naturally efficient metabolization and natural resistance to the elements. Timed environmental deaths due to techniques that drown, burn, asphyxiate, infect, poison, freeze etc is increased by 2 posts. Additionally, members of the clan have their Endurance and Perception stats increased by +1 tier. (Ie. Water prison jutsu, a technique which kills the user via drowning in 5 turns, would require 7 instead.)

  • Born Scouts: Members of this clan begin their training in tracking and scouting from an early age, as natural scouts and survivalists they are able to activate sensory techniques of a rank higher than they would normally be able to for a ninja of their rank. (Ie, a Genin is capable of activating B rank or lower sensory techniques.) Additionally, should a member of the Onoda clan observe another ninja for a full turn out of combat, or 2 turns in combat with a sensory technique, they are able to identify any elemental weaknesses that player may have.

Drawbacks: The art of the scout or spy is a noble one, and while they are sometimes expected to engage in combat, it's not often the primary task of a scout to do any more than test the strength of an opponent before a core unit or squad of ninja finish the job. Meaning that members of the Onoda clan, while they are good at what they do, they are not built for head to head, face to face or blow for blow conflicts, preferring much more to strike from a distance due to their near guarantee of being aware of an enemy before they are aware of them.

  • Conservative Approach: Members of the Onoda clan are trained for prolonged conflicts and maintaining their strength with more techniques to test the guard of an opponent rather than to strike them with a flurry of powerful techniques. To reflect this members of the Onoda clan are only capable of using offensive techniques of ranks equaling their ninja rank or lower, rather than the standard ability to use them of up to one rank higher.

  • Lightly Packed: Stalking prey, remaining hidden and scouting is not something to be done in full armour. Due to their profession particularly, even more-so than most other ninja, Heavy armour and weapons is often weighty and encumbering to members of the Onoda clan, distracting them and making it harder to remain hidden, but even worse, breaking their touch with the natural world with the segregating wall of heavy steel.

For each piece of heavy armour a member of the Onada clan wears, their sensory techniques' ranges are reduced by -5m as well as receiving an additional -1 tier to speed (to a potential maximum of -3 tiers per piece of heavy armour).

  • Unprepared Combat: Members of the Onoda clan are taught and trained to observe a target for weaknesses before engaging in combat, though that isn't always possible, placing them at a distinct disadvantage in combat against an opponent. If a member of the Onoda clan has not been able to observe / scan an opponent with a sensory technique for at least 1 post out of combat or 2 posts in combat. Until it is done, the Onoda clan member is receives -2 to their reaction time against that opponent until this is achieved.

This clan is simple and well written, and I think it's pretty balanced as well. The benefits aren't too powerful and to match the drawbacks are fair and not too severe. Approved.
