It had begun to get dark, the sun was just shy of disappearing into the darkness of the night. It was evening and Yusuke was on his way back. The weather was slightly cold and windy, clouds were all over the sky and it had just begun to rain. Yusuke had spent the entire day in the library again, studying about jutsus and clans. His yearning for learning consumed most part of his day. Especially because he wasn’t strong enough to go on complicated or tough missions. He had only taken one mission so far and that, despite being successful, wasn’t a pleasant experience. Whatever it was though, it was still an experience. It helped him learn and get a general sense of the direction he needed to head towards. He understood thanks to that one mission that he needed to improve. In his current state, he wouldn’t be of much use to anyone.

Yusuke hadn’t expected the rain, so he had no umbrella but he didn’t mind getting soaked in the rain. Despite being young, he didn’t have anyone around to tell him any better. So he enjoyed being rebellious and did what he pleased. Especially because he had just recently moved and lived alone now. He was headed to his one story apartment, lost in thought. ”So there’s a clan that uses the help of animals to add to their combat strength. These clans are seriously interesting indeed. Those unique clan jutsus, those strengths are stuff to be envied..”, he continued to think as he walked through the street. The rain had started to become heavy now and Yusuke, unlike the people around him, paid no mind to it. He was in his own world, thinking about the stuff he had read in the library.

”Hurry up, we’ll get soaked!” said a lady holding her child as the two ran across Yusuke. The mother holding a paper over her child’s head while she got drenched by the rain. Suddenly, Yusuke’s trail of thought was broken as he stared at the sight in front of him. It was then that he realized that he had gotten quite wet. If he stayed like that he would probably get sick, which wouldn’t be good since he won’t be able to study in that condition. Immediately Yusuke dashed for a nearby shelter. Coincidentally, that shelter was a restaurant where a few people were seated. The restaurant was close to his house and he frequented here because he didn’t know how to cook. ”Is that you boy?” said the old restaurant owner lady. ”Hai, I’ve just returned”, he said scratching the back of his head. ”Look at you, you’re all wet, were you sleep walking in the rain again?”, she said angrily fetching a towel placed near her. She threw the towel to Yusuke, who caught it and used it to begin drying his hairs.

”Thank you ma’am” he said bowing to her. ”Don’t thank me, just come by to help around like you do. Look in the back, we may have some dry clothes to fit you”, she said pointing to the room behind her. Yusuke visited the restaurant to eat but also helped out the old and kind restaurant owner. She wasn’t alone here, she had employees but sometimes it got too busy. Yusuke didn’t mind, she was a nice old lady. He moved to the room and after a little while came out dressed in dry clothing. The rain was now drizzling really heavily. ”Stay here until the rain stops”, she said almost ordering Yusuke before leaving to attend to restaurant matters. Yusuke nodded in compliance as he stood and began staring outside.

Dark clouds. The gradually increasing pitter patter of rain. What would this mean to any normal person? It would mean a storm, a situation of which to hide from, to avoid with all they can. But there was someone who this situation, this weather, meant different for. A large bulk of a man, towering over his peers many times over. To him, this weather meant great training, a chance to improve his skills, not only with his strength, but with his wrestling technique! Of course, this also meant dragging out his pet bear, Debu, for training. Oki was, after all, the sort of person this weather suited. Sudden, strong, violent, nippy. Yes, nippy is an appropriate word for the bear ninja, don’t question it. So there, in the rain, moving back and forth upon the damp, dirt laid road, the Yogi and Booboo of the village of stone sparred.

Clad in practical gear, the large form of Oki walked about the streets, grappling with the juvenile bear. Arms wrapped around the bears forelegs, Oki lifted it up, laughing uproariously as he tilted his entire body back, the two looking as if they were doing little more than a big bear hug, Oki grinning massively as he and his pet bear swayed back and forth in the street, each one pushing against the others strength. Perhaps rain is not the best training weather, and realistically, the two would grow ill, or at the very least Oki would grow ill, as bears were usually meant to hibernate in this sort of weather. But Oki was far too energetic and boisterous to dare try relax and hibernate in this weather! Debu meanwhile, did not care for a simple reason; every training resulted in bonus food. Food was good, probably the best motivation a bear could ask for.

So, still laughing, the two threw each other and moved around the streets of Iwagakure, Oki throwing Debu, Debu throwing Oki. As they wrestled, Oki having the time of his life, something caught Oki’s eye. Or, less so something, as much as someone. A familiar someone, although from where he could not say. Holding up a hand and declaring “Stop!” Oki stood back up to normal, hair somehow still static and wild despite the torrential downpour that he was in the middle of, rain now escalating hard enough that it bounced off his skin like rocks. Debu meanwhile, was pleased with himself, deciding that the halt meant he won.

Curiosity piqued, Oki walked towards the restaurant, bonking his head on the doorframe as he went to open the door and walk in. Whoops. Having just bashed his head into the wooden doorframe, rather audibly as well, Oki entered the restaurant, Debu following behind, both looking as if they had just been dragged through the seas of Mizu No Kuni. So, water dripping from their face, Oki and Debu took a step into the quaint environment of the building, Oki looking around like a lump of a predator. Who was it that he just saw? This question went through his head as he looked around, crouching slightly to not bonk his head again.

OOC: Thanks for waiting. :)

He was back. He was so... so... tired. Really needed rest. Some nice good sleep in a comfy mattress was all the guy needed. He'd committed earlier, after his fifth mission, to go and get some sleep in the Living Quarters right away, but he instinctually made the turn into the Administration Building, grabbed the public dossier, flipped through some missions, and began going on one before he even realized what the hell he was doing. At that point, it was way too late to turn back: he was already sleepwalking his way to the jail where he was supposed to escort some drug lord. During the mission, he basically got in a fight with the drug lord and some suicidal girl who wanted to rescue him; he fought his way through it really sleepily. All he wanted was some... rest. So much stuff he'd been doing. Ugh...

The idealistic kid had been hard set on achieving what many would think was a crazy goal: becoming twice as great as he was before the Hokage and his crew would arrive. Indeed, he was doing just that. He'd gone on... what was it... six damn dangerous missions: all B-rank. SIX! Not to mention all the countless adventures he'd had, where he'd been running around fighting monsters, criminals, and even tunnels. So damn tired. And indeed, he probably did achieve somewhere close to this goal with all of his cramming; it was undoubted that he used the fact that the Hokage and his crew were late was to his advantage in achieving this goal (he blamed the genin "escort" for this secretly, as he was sure that the man "Satoshi" and Kenta would have had no problem getting there). He was so much stronger, mentally and physically, than he had been before. However, with all the sleep loss, he was feeling rather demented, with very little mental clarity. He needed to sleep. Sleeeeeppp... Sleeeepppp...

"The Hokage is coming!" he heard some villager scream to alert his fellow Iwa citizens, "He's coming in twelve hours!" Damn. So they were almost here. And Kashizudoto still was missing about a day of his sleep. Luckily, he came here with a strategy. So sleep was just the brain reorganizing everything, right? He figured that if he channeled chakra to his brain in a sort of lucid sleeping state, he could do some kind of extreme power nap. Still, it wouldn't be a good replacement for natural sleep, and regular use would surely have repercussions, so he wanted to use his new technique sparingly.

A messenger hawk could be seen overhead in the rain (he was so tired that he didn't even notice that there was a storm going on before he saw the hawk), perhaps it belonged to the Hokage and was on its way back to its master after delivering the message to Iwa of his arrival? No, it was making its way towards Kashizudoto. Who could have had a message for him? Was it someone from the Order of the White Lotus. It perched on his shoulder, and he took out a wrapped up piece of parchment from its back, unsealing it with his fingerprint (damn, they had pretty advanced seals nowadays). What was this for? He read the letter.

Dear young shinobi,

Your exploits in Iwa have not gone unnoticed. We received lots of information, through merchants, travelers, and one of our contacts in Iwa about all the tasks that you have been accomplishing. It is clear that your skills set you apart from even the chuunin; therefore, we have decided to promote you to the rank of special jonin. May you continue your great work on your path to jonin.

He wrapped up the parchment and put it in his pocket. That was great, but he was way too tired to be excited. Just so damn tired. Ya, ya, a thirteen year old special jonin was great and all, but not if he was going to keep up his sleepwalking all around Iwa. He made his way sluggishly through the Living Quarters, getting drenched in some torrent that made him at least a little more alert.

He passed by some kind of restaurant and took a small glance through the window. Wait... was that... No, he was hallucinating. It couldn't be: a bear and a man. Those two that he encountered in the tunnels. Was it really them. He stopped in his tracks and rubbed his eyes, but he still saw them. What? Either it was a small world or sleep deprivation was starting to kick into the next stage.

”Yanagi!!”, came a scary voice from behind, this of course, was before Oki’s arrival. He knew who could’ve addressed him like that. He turned to face the source of the sound, a young lady in her teens wearing an apron. She had long black hair, wrapped around in a bun and held a pan in her left hand. From her attire, it could easily be deducted that she had spent the entire day working on multiple things and still had too much to do. ”You just ruined the floor, get a mop from the back and dry it up. Always so messy.. jeez”, she said waving her pan around. Yusuke knew better than to piss her off. Her name was Kaya, the granddaughter of the old kind restaurant owner. As much as he was showered by kindness from the old lady, Yusuke was disciplined by Kaya. The fact that Kaya was actually younger than Yusuke, never stopped Kaya. It was after that Yusuke went inside that Oki appeared.

”Hold it! Hold it! Where do you think you’re coming, you just made it worst!”, she said pointing the pan to the large sized individual. ”And a bear?! Oh no, no animals allowed around here!”, she said almost ready to explode. Despite working the entire day, Kaya was full of energy, as always. Hearing all the commotion and wearing an apron while holding a mop, Yusuke emerged from the back. ”I swear I didn’t break anything this time, you gotta…”, mid sentence Yusuke realized that for a change, he wasn’t the one being scolded. ”Yo Oki!”, he said raising a hand but then noticed the aura around Kaya and stopped speaking. ”So, he’s your friend! Then it’s your fault! Get them some dry clothes and bring a bunch of towels. And why aren’t you drying up the floor yet?!!”. ”On it!, said Yusuke as he rushed to the back for the third time.

He appeared from the back with a bunch of towels, ”Sorry about that”, he said noticing that Kaya had disappeared into the kitchen. He handed all the towels to Oki. ”You can change in the room in the back, just try not to wet the floor or I’ll have to dry it up later. Now go ahead and change before you catch a cold. She may appear to be scary but I’m sure she’s already preparing tea so that it can warm you up” . Explained Yusuke as he began mopping up the floor. Soon after Oki would disappear, another fellow would follow into the restaurant, equally drenched if not more than Yusuke and Oki.

”Welcome!”, said Yusuke greeting the individual who had just entered. ”Please help yourself to the towel” said Yusuke pointing to the extra towel that he had brought. The ones he had brought from before were more than what Oki and Debu would need. So, a few were left out just in case. Yusuke continued to mop the floor, making sure that not even a single droplet would remain. That’s how Kaya liked it.

A sudden shout, one that seemed angry. Oki turned to look at the lady waving a pan at him angry. Suddenly, memories of his mother came back, and like a child who was caught doing something wrong, he simply raised his hands in front of him meekly, an emphasised frown on his face. Debu meanwhile, had similar emotions, the chubby bear’s ears dropping at the sight and sound of the angry woman. Oki was pretty sure at this moment, that a pan was about to have a dent mark in the shape of his head. That would be a delightful moment. However, just when Oki and Debu braced for impact, a sound, a familiar voice spoke up, rather casually for the situation. Yusuke. Blinking for a moment, Oki just sort of, held up his hand in a salute in front of him, keeping crouched to not hit his head on the roof. “Yo” he replied blatantly, not sure what was going on.

When Yusuke gave Oki a pile of towels and informed him to change in the back, Oki made note especially of the instruction to not get the floor wet. Crouching more than he had before so, he began whispering to Debu, deliberating on what would be a good way to cross without, well, making the scary lady cross. Of course, the duo decided to go for the most obvious and sensible approach. Looking to make sure there was nobody in the way, or any risk of anyone moving in the way, Oki concluded the best way to not get the floor wet, was to have a flying bear not touch the floor at all! Carefully, and with as little space as he had, Oki picked up Debu by the legs, spun him around a little, water splashing around the immediate area, before propelling the bear at unnecessary speeds towards the door to the back. Having checked before throwing, Oki confirmed there was nobody in the path, and that scary lady wasn’t looking before doing this, the bear entering the room with an audible clatter. Of course, this just left Oki to figure out how to cross the floor without causing it to become wet. But how to do so?

Of course, Oki had already decided on the most logical way of doing this. Taking two of the towels that Yusuke had handed him prior, Oki put one towel underneath each of his feet, putting any remaining towels around his neck like a scarf, shoes off and in his mouth, so as to not make the towels have muddy boot prints on. Skating across the floor to where he had thrown his bear, Oki was like a ballerina, only with more muscles, and hairier. With the utmost lack of grace, Oki made it to where Debu was, stumbling on the floor in a daze from the impact of the room. Debu regaining his bearings, and Oki removing the towels from beneath his feet, the two now stood there, nodding to each other. It was time to dry off. Three. Two. One.

What the hell was going on? Was he hallucinating even more? Through the window, he saw that crazy Oki dude getting yelled at by a crazy lady; next thing you know, the guy is throwing his bear across the frickin' restaurant into another room and then throwing down two towels on the floor and dancing around with them as if they were shoes! Of all the things to hallucinate about, why this??? While that was going on, there was what appeared to be a servant boy doing work across the restaurant who Kashizudoto had never seen. This guy was probably real; it seemed normal enough for a guy to be working in a restaurant. Oki somehow appearing here and flinging around his bear? Probably not. It was strange how the servant boy seemed to be interacting with the illusion of Oki. If seeing Oki was really Kashizudoto's hallucination due to sleep deprivation, then why was a real person also seeing it? Perhaps the servant boy was also unreal and was placed there by his hallucinations to trick himself? Ah, this was so crazy. He would decide to settle this.

Using the Body Flicker Technique, he would move at an untraceable speed through the door, appearing right in front of the moving curtains with a whoosh sound (the bell attached to the door would also ring, as he did go through the door even if no one could see it). Sure, it was unnecessarily fancy, but he decided it was for the best to counter craziness with more eccentricity.

"Oki, is that you? If you don't remember me, I'm the guy who blasted our way out of those nasty underground tunnels" the tokujo would say loud and clear so that he and his damn bear would hear, "And you, who are you?" He would turn to the servant in the restaurant (at least in his opinion, the guy looked that way). Kashizudoto didn't like the whole concept of servitude; he thought it was lame and against his ideals of equality, but he supposed that he would have to respect the customs of wherever he went, as he was indeed foreign to this land and his Konoha forehead protector would show it loud and clear. Anyway, if these two really were hallucinations, he would eventually catch them in his interactions with them; his perception would be too good to miss it.

Yusuke couldn’t help but confusingly stare as Oki complied with his unreasonable request. Yusuke should’ve thought ahead and considered the fact that Oki and Debu were drenched. So if someone is already that wet, how would they be able to avoid making the floor wet? Kaya’s fear was probably to blame for that. Not entirely though, Yusuke wasn’t the smartest individual around the block either. Just to be sure, he mopped up around after Oki proceeded to dance his way into the back room. The loud crash was heard not only by Yusuke but also by Kaya, who peaked out of the kitchen but paid no attention to it. For a moment, Yusuke felt he would be pummeled right then and there. When nothing happened, he breathed a sigh of relief. Soon after, another visitor followed.

He however, didn’t use the towel nor introduce himself instead talked to Oki first and then asked about Yusuke. ”I’m Yanagi Yusuke, please use the towel to dry yourself”, he introduced and repeated himself. Obviously if Kaya noticed, she’d probably find a reason to blame Yusuke and be angry at him. He wouldn’t want that, especially because she was almost always with a pan. And never hesitated to use the pan to ‘emphasize’ upon her opinion. Regardless, she was still as caring and kind as her grandmother. Just a bit more reserve about it, one would normally assume her to be cruel and frightening. Only after knowing her a little would one find out about her true nature. ”Tea is almost ready, don’t let your friend leave until the rain stops”, said Kaya from the kitchen. Unaware of the new potential customer who had just walked in. Sure, the bell rang but she was inside the kitchen and because of the noise of the rain, she didn’t hear it.

”Please take a seat and I’ll take your order”, said Yusuke with a gentle smile. When the restaurant got busier, he helped out every now and then. So he was used to greeting customers and taking their orders. He didn’t mind being treated as a waiter or a restaurant staff, didn’t make much difference to Yusuke. That’s why he only replied as much as he was asked, he was asked who he was and that’s who he was. It appeared this shinobi belonged to another village, considering his band. And from his sentence, Yusuke deducted that he was a friend or acquaintance of Oki and had been on a mission with him before. ”We’ll need more tea”, said Yusuke letting Kaya know. Even if the customer didn’t want to eat much, he probably was going to stay long enough for the rain to stop, right? And considering the way it was raining, it didn’t feel like the rain would stop before an hour or two.

As they couldn’t leave, so they might as well enjoy some quality tea to warm themselves. ”Oh! Almost forgot, need something for the bear too”, said Yusuke finishing up the mopping. He headed back to the backroom and placed the mop to where it was supposed to be. Then he headed into the kitchen, hoping that the customer would take a seat and Oki would too. ”I think they’ll have some fish to spare”, he thought entering the kitchen.

A familiar voice rang through Oki’s earholes as he finished skating his way across the floor delicately. A sound he’d heard recently. But where oh where could it have been from? Having dried himself and Debu off by just shaking rather violently, Oki stuck his head back out to see who’s face he could associate the voice to. A short person, with black hair, and looked about as young as a newly born duckling… Without a doubt, Oki recognised the face. The chuunin who got lost in the cave and liked to shout what techniques he used! With a hearty grin, Oki waved, before going back to essentially, last minute grooming Debu. Of course, in such a situation as this, grooming simply meant patting the bear whenever its fur stuck out, and Debu doing the exact same for Oki. Satisfied with his grooming of the bear, Oki simply chuckled to himself lightly, muttering under his breath to himself. “Ah, of course I couldn’t forget Kashew, the one who broke a whole in the tunnels…” to Oki, it was almost like it had happened yesterday… Not far off, realistically, but regardless, oh, the not really nostalgic nostalgia.

Oki decided to do the best thing at this point in time, and that is… Give everyone else the decency of Oki going into a separate room to get changed. Into what? Well, is it not obvious? Taking off his clothes, where Yusuke had instructed him to get changed, he turned them inside out, then put them back on. Were they now dry? Nope. Did they look like different clothes? Not at all. Was it completely and utterly stupid? Of course. Debu meanwhile, just shook itself off some more, adjusting the position of its forehead protector with its paws, just to look more fashionable.

Upon exiting where he had got changed and, now mostly ‘dry’, Oki went back to the main part of the restaurant, where Kashizudoto currently was, and where Yusuke was previously, yet alas, not now. So, walking up to the small person, Oki grinned, giving him a rather blatant thumbs up. For once using his indoor voice, the bear man spoke quite proudly. “Kashew, friend! It is good to see you! My goodness, it feels like it has been only a couple of days since we last met!” With a laugh, the great bear man put one of his hands on the, to him still, chuunin’s left shoulder, long 2 inch nails hanging in the air. Still having that rather Oki like grin, the man spoke up once more. “Tell me, tell me! How have things been?” he would ask rather happily, Debu minding his own business and deciding to explore the building a bit, to find a good napping place.

"I’m Yanagi Yusuke, please use the towel to dry yourself," said the servant boy while the older bear man gave Kashizudoto a hearty wave before proceeding to pat his bear, chuckle a bit, and mutter to himself.  Kashizudoto hated drying himself. Whenever he bathed, he would always come out drenched, just gently rubbing himself with a towel a little bit (just for show, he supposed) with his towel before putting on his clothes and proceeding through his day with a head with water. The boy had been getting at least a little better at drying his hair in the mornings, but he was still working on it all in all. Besides, with all of his fatigue, the last thing he wanted to do was to dry off the one thing that kept him awake: the cold water. While Kashizudoto reflected about his bad habits on not drying himself, thinking about how many times that he got sick as a result, the bear man went in other room.

"Tea is almost ready, don’t let your friend leave until the rain stops," declared an elderly woman, who probably owned, or, in less brutal terms, "employed", the servant boy who was currently cleaning up the kitchen. It was sad to see a kid, probably as young as him, being used in such a slave-like fashion instead of being allowed to pursue his dreams like the tokujo standing before him, the idealist wished that there would be true equality of opportunities in the world one day. Of course, this kind of thinking was the subject of ridicule from several adults; however, the ones who encouraged him in his novel ideas were the only ones who the boy really had any respect for. Was the tokujo necessarily right about everything? Not really, but he sure did think that way.

"Please take a seat and I’ll take your order," continued the servant as the bear man walked out of the room, seemingly having done nothing while he was in there. So what the hell was that dense bear man doing? Anyway, the fatigued Kashizudoto had no interest in ordering anything from this restaurant (really not much that didn't have to do with sleep); he just came here to check whether he was hallucinating or not. He definitely wasn't hallucinating, since Oki seemed to have such dense behavior so far to the point that Kashizudoto couldn't even imagine even in his wildest dreams. Sure, the tokujo had done stupid things not long ago in the Academy, some which he still praised himself for and others which he deeply regretted, but the idiotic actions that Kashizudoto had done before were just a different brand of stupidity than those of the bear man that he had met in the tunnels, generally being more serious and less frequent than the usual antics of his new friend Oki.

"We’ll need more tea, said the servant boy just loud enough for his mistress to hear. Oh no. Frick no. Just no. He had this friend from back in Konoha, a blind genin named Takashi, who he'd coincidentally run into in Iwa just a few days ago (before he went on his fast-paced, extreme, and tiring adventures all around the Land of Earth). Now this guy. He frickin' LOVED tea. After tasting some of that searing hot tea that burned more in his throat than any katon jutsu he'd ever done, Kashizudoto decided to give his friend the idea to open up a tea stand in. Perhaps he was being a little sadistic giving the blind kid that idea; after all, he would just be torturing innocent passersby with that bloody filth, but maybe, just maybe, some people liked hot tea. He had no idea who could enjoy such a vile substance, but it was always a possibility. Besides, there were so many adults addicted to that stuff. It crossed the tokujo's mind that... perhaps... they liked tea? Yuck. The blind boy in fact did open up a tea stand, except in Iwagakure rather than their home village. When they met up at Iwa and Kashizudoto learned of the tea stand, he made a little white lie to the kid that he would bring the Hokage to the tea stand, just to make him happy; however, there was no way he was actually going to subject Lord Kenta to that vile abomination known as hot tea.

"Oh! Almost forgot, need something for the bear too, said the servant boy out loud, interrupting the tired tokujo's inner dialogue about how much he hated tea, which was a little chopped up due to all the sleep deprivation. The kid finished up his mopping and then headed off into some other room. Meanwhile, the bear man walked up to the tokujo.

"Kashew, friend! It is good to see you! My goodness, it feels like it has been only a couple of days since we last met, announced Oki. Wait, Kashew? Kashew? Now, now, he was used to people mispronouncing and/or forgetting his name bigtime, but... Kashew? What nut would name their kid frickin' Kashew? Yes, even in his sleep deprived state, he could make some internal puns, though he wouldn't be all that excited to share them in his current condition.

"Tell me, tell me! How have things been? asked the man. Yes, yes, quite a lot did happened. Some things were safe to tell the bear man about, like his promotion, his adventures, his fatigue, and the fact that the Hokage was soon to arrive. Something that he couldn't tell the bear man was about his induction into the Order of the White Lotus; there was a reason that it was called a secret society, after all. Revealing its existence to all could compromise the goals of the order: for peace that could transcend nations. Of course, he was only a minor member of the organization, but he was still expected to keep his mouth shut.

"Good, good..." the tokujo would begin, whose fatigue could be easily sensed by even the densest of shinobi, "Let's see... I went on a ton of adventures across the Land of Earth, fighting criminals... monsters... and, as you very well know, even a frickin' tunnel... I embarked on a crap ton of missions. When I say a crap ton, I really mean a crap ton. So, well, I lost a crap ton of sleep. And, well, I have a crap ton of fatigue. I just... well... What else... Ya, that..." Even in his disorientation, he would be able to pull that piece of parchment out of his pocket and show it to the dense bear man.

Dear young shinobi,

"So... Uhhhh... Ya... I'm a tokujo and stuff now, the tired shinobi would declare. He would wait for the servant boy to come back from his little escapade before continuing, allowing him too to observe what was on the parchment so that he, too, was aware of the shinobi's status. Among some of the crazy things he'd been experiencing since becoming sleep deprived, something relevant would finally hit him. He would see a vision of a hand on his head. Whatever that was philosophically or psychologically supposed to mean wouldn't matter all that much to the tokujo, just that it would give him an idea. He did make that idea for the powernapping technique earlier, an unhealthy, temporary solution to his sleeping problem, where he would achieve lucidity in sleep (as he had done before one day when he had gotten really bored in the Academy) and then channel chakra to his brain to artificially accelerate the the cycle so that he could regain lots of lost hours (but probably not permanently). He could already tell that it wouldn't be a lasting solution, but the Hokage was coming soon and looking like a zombie was the last thing on the tokujo's agenda. So what would the hand resting on top of his head mean, in that case? Well, if all the chakra flow was centered on his head, then a hand resting on it could alter its speed, right? Well he figured that he could use these two goons to help him with that, although he'd need to give them a carrot at the end of the stick, so to speak. Well, this Oki guy, from what Kashizudoto had seen of him, was incredibly dense and would absolutely love challenges, so what better to give him than the incredibly difficult task of going on an A-rank mission with the new tokujo? As for the servant boy, he would probably do whatever the tokujo wanted after seeing his rank; the A-rank mission would probably serve just as a cherry on top, if not a bit of a deterrent, for the seemingly mild-mannered kid.

"Listen... you two," he would tell the pair, "I'm... very tired right now. Y'know, what would make me untired or... errr... what was the word... errr, ya, awake is if you two helped me with a little something. Listen, all you two have to do is rest your hand on my head and put in your energy into speeding up the chakra flow. Just feel the energy racing, and you'll do fine. Since I'll need you to do this for about an hour or so, I'll throw in a reward: you get to go with me on an A-rank mission. You can observe or even participate, with caution, in the dangerous task as long as you follow my orders throughout; you'll earn a lot of respect around your village if you said that you were a part of an A-rank. I'll even throw in a fish for Debu. So, what'll it be?" If either of them, or both, would agree to his proposal, then the tokujo would close his eyes, entering that lucid dreaming state while the two would do as he asked for an entire hour. If neither agreed, then he would heave a heavy sigh.

Yanagi Yusuke

Yusuke reappeared after a few minutes, just in time to notice Oki’s dressing. Holding the tray that contained tea and a plate with fish, Yusuke froze for a few moments. The floor was no longer dry thanks to Oki’s dressing. After drying himself, the ‘genius’ had put on his wet clothes; more so, he had put them on in a weird way. After a momentary pause, he shook his head and brought the tea to the two guests. ”Get it while it’s hot. Oki, here’s a fish for Debu”, he said giving the plate to Oki since he couldn’t see Debu. Yusuke then proceeded to pouring the tea into the cups. It was then that the stranger who had appeared and hadn’t introduced himself yet spoke. Apparently, he was named “Kashew” or at least that’s what Oki called him.

Yusuke listened to Kashew’s story and then his ‘instructions’ to both Oki and Yusuke. Firstly, Yusuke was wearing normal clothes, so why did Mr. Kashew ask him to channel his chakra to do something complex? Secondly, being no medical specialist, Yusuke had no idea what this strange individual was talking about. So after pouring the tea, Yusuke placed one cup in front of Oki and another in front of Mr. Kashew. Then he sat next to Oki and poked his ribs with a finger to get his attention. ”Firstly..” gently spoke Yusuke, in a muffled way attempting to speak only to Oki, ”you’re gonna get me killed since you just wet the floor again. And secondly, do you have any idea what your friend is talking about?” said Yusuke looking at Kashew. This interaction between Yusuke and Oki was taking place after Kashew had closed his eyes.

After hearing whatever Oki would reply in response to Yusuke whispered questions, Yusuke would speak to Kashew. ”Uhhh.. Mr. Kashew, was it?”, he paused a little allowing room to reply. Then he continued, ”I don’t have the littlest idea what you’re talking about. I don’t know how to channel chakra in such a complex manner. What you’re asking for is something only a skilled shinobi can do. A skilled medical shinobi that is.”, he explained his opinion, emphasizing on the word “medical”. Considering the entire thing, that this individual was a special jounin, Yusuke’s interest was indeed peaked when he mentioned something about an A-rank mission. As much as scary as it sounded, Yusuke hoped that this young individual would be able to help them get it done. Fame and other such matters? They didn’t appeal Yusuke much, he never did care for them. However, the experience, the possibility to learn more things; especially from an encounter alongside such a young and capable individual was most appealing indeed.

After explaining his limitation, Yusuke would turn to Oki, ”Oki, do you know you to use medical ninjutsu? I really have no idea how to comply with Kashew’s request”, he said as he sipped some of the tea he had poured earlier. If Kashew wasn’t in such a hurry, he could just drink some tea; relax and get some sleep. Considering the rain, he wouldn’t be able to go anywhere anytime soon anyways.

Oki looked to Yusuke as he handed him a fish, confused by the sudden fish appearance. Was this a special type of delivering tea? After sniffing it, Oki sighed, unable to tell and only smelling fish. Nodding to himself, Oki decided the best way to figure out was to try it! So, taking the fish, Oki placed his lips to the lips of the fish, tilting up and… Bleh! A fishy surprise that caused Oki to drop the fish to the floor, rubbing his tongue with his meaty paws of hands. All in all, a real cock up of a simple situation right there. Then, hearing the sounds of Oki making a fool of himself, as well as smelling the scent of fish, Debu returned to the room, done with his no doubt wonderful misadventure. Fish was a good bribe, one the bear would never pass up. Laughing to himself, Oki threw the fish at Debu, whom with completely illogical speed snatched up the food and began tucking in. Oh, life was good being a bear.

Oki watched and listened as Kashizudoto spoke. So, he got a promotion? Good for him.  Lots of words in that letter, most of which Oki skipped, and Debu actually read, due to being smarter than the average bear. But, aside from a slight nod, there wasn’t a lot of reaction at this, mostly because Oki was still reeling from the taste of fish. Regardless, he then went on to continue speaking. Wait, he wanted two people he barely knew, let alone probably not having medical skills, to pump chakra into his face? Now, Oki wasn’t the brightest tool in the shed, but even he knew it was a terrible idea. Still, he seemed dead-set on the idea, and he was offering a reward. An A rank mission, something that Oki’s pride was interested in, and a fish for Debu. Of course, Debu didn’t need to do anything, so it was fine for him. So, Oki hummed audibly, considering things.

Of course, as Kashizudoto finished and Yusuke spoke up, quietly addressing Oki. So, priority wise, it would seem Oki had accidentally, once more, wet the floor. And then secondly, Yusuke also had no idea what Kashizudoto was talking about in terms of how his chakra plan would work. After all, did the big burly guy look like a nurse? I mean, the skirt would probably suit him, but no. As for the suit, well, that just wouldn’t fit. But, of course, as Yusuke’s primary concern, Oki concluded it was best to address the primary concern first. As images of the scary pan lady entered his mind, Oki put his hand on Yusuke’s shoulder in an attempt to be reassuring, shaking his head. His voice rather solemn, he responded. “I will make sure you have a good burial my friend.” Having addressed what he deemed the primary concern, he then nodded, letting Yusuke speak his mind and ask him questions before saying his peace, crossing his arms and getting into a comfortable posture, or, as comfortable as you can be while in a room that’s shorter than you are.

I share the concerns of Yusuke on this one. I do not know the art of the medic, although you really do flatter me by assuming I have the tact to do so aha! My speciality is in hitting things, and hitting things hard, same with Debu over there.” He says, pointing a long, nailed finger to the slumped form of Debu, who was finishing off the fish he was gifted. “Out of respect for you at having beaten up a cave, and also due to your recent promotion, I will decline, as I am pretty sure trying to do what you request would simply cause you pain!” at this, the bear man began laughing once more, forgetting his indoor voice. Just as suddenly as the laughter started though, it stopped, Oki having gotten an idea. “Of course, if you wish for quick sleep, I am sure a quick headbutt could do the job.” He added as a second thought, voice surprisingly calm and genuine despite the stupid suggestion. This was Oki after all. Who needs subtlety when you can be a bear?

"Get it while it’s hot, the servant boy said as he gave cups of tea to Debu, Oki, here’s a fish for Debu. Yuck, yuck, tea. That disgusting thing that the blind boy gave him once. However, a very.... alarming sensory experience such as drinking scalding tea could perhaps wake up Kashizudoto. Yes, there would be a use for such a vile substance as this...

"Uhhh.. Mr. Kashew, was it?" said the confused servant boy. Haha, the tokujo hadn't even bothered to correct Oki when he messed up his name originally, probably because he was too busy being tired and trying to come up with solutions.

"I don’t have the littlest idea what you’re talking about. I don’t know how to channel chakra in such a complex manner. What you’re asking for is something only a skilled shinobi can do. A skilled medical shinobi that is, the servant boy complained with a puzzled look on his face. The tokujo gave a quiet, dry laugh as he realized what he had done: he was uttering things with the logic, coherency, and stupidity of one who had not slept for twenty fours hours, which was reflective of his current state, but with the confidence of the most alert man in the world. The combination yielded a sleepy boy commanding some strangers to do things that may or may not have even been possible for them.

"I share the concerns of Yusuke on this one. I do not know the art of the medic, although you really do flatter me by assuming I have the tact to do so aha!" yelled the densest man in Iwa heartilly, "My speciality is in hitting things, and hitting things hard, same with Debu over there". All of a sudden, Kashizudoto felt like the actual stupid one in the room, understanding that he was saying gibberish.

"Out of respect for you at having beaten up a cave, and also due to your recent promotion, I will decline, as I am pretty sure trying to do what you request would simply cause you pain!" concluded the man. As dense as he was, the genin was probably correct.

"Yes, yes, the tokujo would yawn-talk before adding, Sorry, um, I'm kind of tired right now. Servant boy, I mean Yusu - er, what was it again... right, um anyway, servant bot, I'm sorry that I assumed your gend - I mean, skills. It's just that I assumed a friend of Oki would have at least some kind of... Anyway, my thing is simply extrapolating some of the basic primciples of genjutsu kai, but I.... anyway, uh... ya, I think it's too advanced for you, Oki. Well, sleeping naturally ain't an option right now; the Hokage's coming in about six hours. As his escort, I'm... um... I need to beat him - I mean meet him in a timely fashion. Being more than two hours late to meet him would be stupid. But well, Oki, you like inflicting pain through taijutsu. And you, servant boy, I mean... uh, what was your name. Yo Sake, you like inflicting pain through that shit that you call hot tea, right. Pain makes fatigue go away. Then I can do my chakra thing; as a tokubetsu jonin, I'll be able to perform this on my own brain. Oki will meanwhile squeeze my arm; I'll be able to endure your force, don't worry. Meanwhile, Mr. Sake can get us some more of that terrible garbage to wake me up further." The tokujo would take the cup of tea out of the servant boy's hands, chug down that vile stuff, and begin channeling chakra to his brain, hoping that Oki would join in with his taijutsu and the servant boy would bring in some more of that horrid tea to inflict maximum pain.

Yusuke didn’t even know what to say until Oki had weirdly kissed a fish. Yes, that happened right before his eyes. How does one tell another not to kiss a fish? That’s beyond common sense. With his average level of common sense, Yusuke had no idea how to deal with that so he only watched until finally the fish met with the one it was intended for. Then, Oki responded to Yusuke’s earlier question. Yusuke nodded with satisfaction when Oki said that he would take care of the burial. It would take a few moments for Yusuke’s brain to actually process what had just been said. ”Ehhhh?!!”, he would say to Oki in surprise. Jeez, what a friend had Yusuke made. Well, at least he wouldn’t have to worry about the burial. That sorta counts, doesn’t it?

While Oki responded to Kashew’s instructions, Yusuke listened quietly and sipped through his tea. It really was nicely made, the scent was good and the taste complimented the scent. As scary as Kaya sounded, her tea kind of made up for it. She was hard worker and her cooking was off the charts. That’s why she got away with all her angry demeanor and attitude. Once she cooked, everyone got over the fact that they were either scolded or almost scared to death by her. ”That’s what they call a natural”, thought Yusuke drifting away from the conversation.

Finally he was brought back to the conversation when Kashew addressed him as ‘servant boy’. Well, for one, Yusuke couldn’t blame him because of how he looked. He was totally looking like a boy who worked at the hotel; which he did, occasionally. However, did that make him a servant boy? It was an honorable profession though. Why did this individual choose to talk to him like that was beyond Yusuke but he refrained from commenting on that. It wasn’t just that he was referred to as a ‘servant boy’, that he could overlook. Apparently, Kashew didn’t have much of a memory or he wasn’t paying much attention. As he clearly couldn’t recall Yusuke’s name. Never in his life had Yusuke been called by so many names in such little time. He could only slightly frown in response because it wouldn’t be appropriate. He was acting as a waiter and representing the restaurant, it would be bad for the restaurant and he would never want that.

Finally, Kashew proceeded to explain himself and even went on to call the tea garbage. If Yusuke had been capable enough and if he wasn’t working for the restaurant, he would have had it; probably. However, Yusuke wasn’t capable and he was working for the restaurant at the moment. So he had no choice but to act as the servant boy as he was referred to. ”I’ll bring more tea Kashew”, replied Yusuke as he picked up the kettle placed it on the tray and got up, heading back to the kitchen. Before doing so, Yusuke cast a gaze at Oki. He didn’t expect Oki to know what he was thinking but for some reason, Yusuke expected Oki to feel the way he felt.

Why did Yusuke think that his brief acquaintance with Oki would accomplish that? There was no logical or philosophical reason for that. It was a “just cause” moment.

Oki shook his head as he listened to Kashizudoto speak. It was very, very unlikely to work. No. It was impossible. The use of chakra is something that exhausts shinobi. Even Oki knew this. In fact, Oki especially had to know this; otherwise he’d have spent that year reading books for nothing. But, he wasn’t going to tell the special jounin that. After all, it’d be embarrassing if a jounin ranked ninja was told off and corrected by a genin. Oki was without a doubt not the sort of person to embarrass someone who had recently been promoted. Even more so, it was a bit mean to assume Oki liked hurting people. Like, yeah, he liked to fight, but not for the sake of hurting people. Just for the sake of fighting. So, it was a bit of a sting to his feelings to just be told he likes inflicting pain.

Regardless, Oki would shrug, watching as Yusuke walked off, a certain look about him as he simply watched Oki in return, heading off. Oki just shook his head. Poor little tree hugger. Oki didn’t understand exactly how the tiny person felt, since Oki wasn’t in his position, but Oki did understand the pain. After all, tea was delicious when it wasn’t spiked.

With a sigh, Oki cracked his knuckles. He’d have done the same with his neck, but he was kind of like a hunch back in here, so, not a lot he could do about it. The large man took a waddle of a step towards Kashizudoto, looking him up and down as if to weigh up his physical stature, before shrugging. “Are you more susceptible to punches or cuts?” he would ask. After all, if he wanted pain, it was best to be efficient. If Kashizudoto answered that he was weak to cuts, then Oki’s response would be to brandish his claws of hands and stab into the child jounin’s arm, piercing half an inch into his flesh. The feeling of kunai into your arm would hurt after all. If he answered bruises, or didn’t answer at all, Oki would just lean back, clenching his fist, then propelling it in a sudden hit, the entirety of Oki’s weight behind the punch. That would without a doubt leave a mark in the morning. After all, that was six foot five of man behind a single blow to the arm. Whatever option occurred, Debu would simply shake his head, feeling sorry for the stupid Jonin.

OOC: Don't read this if you're sensitive to swearing.

Yuck, this tea was total garbage; the tokubetsu jonin would try his best to gulp it all down without spitting it out all over the man in front of him, eventually finishing the whole cup with his eyes wide open, huffing and puffing as a result of how hot all of that garbage was. This servant boy was great at making total shit (well, in reality, Kashizudoto was just sick of the damn tea). Wait, this "servant boy" had a name: it was Yanagi Yusuke. Was he even really a servant in the first place? The tokubetsu jonin could now pick out some of the minor details from his short term memory that he totally glossed over before. This was going well so far. When he would look in front of him, he would notice that Yanagi was not present; perhaps he listened to Kashizudoto's orders and got more tea.

"Are you more susceptible to punches or cuts?" the dense shinobi asked a wide-eyed Kashizudoto. Well, cuts hurt a lot more. Not to mention that such a sharp pain would do a better job of making someone alert than a dispersed pain. Though he wasn't sure exactly what Oki would use to cut through his skin with, he rolled up his sleeve and waited for the pain; hopefully, this wouldn't feel anything like a shot.

"Cuts," the tokubetsu jonin would speak, a little curious about how exactly Oki would go about this. Turned out that he didn't need a weapon: the stupid genin managed to figure that he could cut with those disgusting... untrimmed nails, the strike going in quick (but slow enough for Kashizudoto to dodge if he really wanted to). He felt a concentrated pain, though it was definitely more dispersed than a kunai knife, which immediately made him gasp and bob up and down once in a strange fashion.

"HOLY SHIT!" the tokubetsu jonin would scream loud as Yanagi entered in with his tea, "THAT'S IT! THAT'S IT! I'M BACK TO FUCKING NORMAL! GET YOUR FUCKING NAILS OUT OF MY FUCKING ARM, YOU FRICKIN' BEAR MAN!" After the string of swears, the thirteen year old boy would forceably dislodge the big man's hand from his with relative ease, ignoring the minor bleeding that resulted and rolling the sleeve of his black robe back down. Thankfully, his left arm was only used for hand seals for the most part, and the dense shinobi managed to hit a very unimportant area of the arm. It hurt a bit, but it was nothing Kashizudoto couldn't handle.

"Fuck this bleeding..." the tokubetsu jonin would murmur before taking a deep breath in and a deep breath out. He didn't feel tired now; he felt panicked. Well, panicked was better than tired; besides, after having that good ol' mission with the jokers that he just remembered that he promised, that fight or flight feeling could be put to good use. Then he'd be able to meet the Hokage with relative alertness and composure. His energy levels were actually lower than they were to start, ironically, as he had expended chakra, yet the tokubetsu jonin, being more alert after this series of events that triggered his fight or flight response, felt as if he had more energy, which was, of course, the opposite case.

"Ok, now, I'm back to normal," he would speak calmly after taking a few more deep breaths and getting back into a normal demeanor, "I think I promised you guys an... A-rank mission, if I remember correctly? I don't like rules, but I need to set down one requirement firmly: you must listen to me, the team leader, at all times during or you will be killed. These things are no joke." Of course, Kashizudoto himself hadn't exactly taken an A-rank mission himself; however, he was confident that, with the aid of these two sidekicks, he'd be able to finish one off pretty darn easily.

"Let's go."

Yusuke wasn’t there to witness what had happened but he arrived just in time to witness the aftermath. Kashew bounced around in a funny manner once, yelling some really inappropriate stuff; especially for his age. ”What did you do!!” shouted Kaya from behind, emerging from the kitchen behind Yusuke. Conveniently, with a pan in her hand as she arrived at the scene. Yusuke was by then, standing next to Oki and Kashew. ”Did you hit poor Yusuke again Kaya?”, emerged the old lady from her room; concerned for Yusuke’s well being. Before either of their questions could be answered though, Kashew spoke up and then continued to speak until finally he left. Yusuke listened to Kashew’s final instructions before he left. Then he calmly placed the tea he had brought from the kitchen and spoke.

”I didn’t do anything, I was just bringing tea. And Oki didn’t do anything bad either, he did what our guest told him to. Isn’t that right Oki?”. Yusuke would wait for Oki to support him on the matter. After whatever whacky response Oki would give, Yusuke would continue speaking. ”Kaya didn’t hit me, it was our guest and he actually wanted to scream so; no harm done. “, said Yusuke concluding his explanation to both ladies who then left to tend to their respective roles. Finally, Yusuke and Oki along with Debu were left in the main hall of the restaurant. Yusuke poured some more of the tea for both himself and Oki. ”Mr. Kashew seems to be quite the confused individual”, he commented and then sipped the warm tea. It was as tasty as ever, as was to be expected since Kaya made it.

”Apparently, your friend assumed that I too am going on this A-rank mission. I wonder why. I don’t remember agreeing to any of that”, said Yusuke. He really couldn’t recall about asking to go to a mission or saying that he would go to a mission. More ever, this was an A-rank mission; the kind of mission shinobi can lose their lives to if they’re not careful. And Yusuke, being the average shinobi, had quite a high probability of losing his life on such a mission. So why would Yusuke in his right mind would tag along on such a mission? Sure, he would rely heavily on Oki but the other guy, was he really trust worthy? The only thing Yusuke could conclude about his personality was that he was rude, to say the least.

”Are you going to go on that mission? I think you’re the kind of guy who likes challenges. Don’t you?”, said Yusuke stating his perception of Oki. Based on his very little experience with Oki, he did look the kind to enjoy a good challenge. Considering his tough nature, he would probably be able to endure it too. The rain outside hadn’t stopped so Yusuke wondered what would Kashew be doing right about now. Didn’t he come to the restaurant to get out of the rain? This interaction with Kashew had been the most confusing for Yusuke.

After he finished his tea, the thought of rain made Yusuke remember what he had to do. He saw the wet floor and then recalled the wet back room as well. He had a ton more work to do and fast too, if he didn’t want to take up Oki’s offer for a good burial. Yusuke got up after finishing his tea, ”Feel free to stay here until the rain stops. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some cleaning to do”, he said as he bowed to Oki and then grabbed a mop and headed back to the back room. There was a lot of cleaning to be done.

Oki watched, taking his fingers out of the jounin’s arm as he began squealing and jumping like a wuss. Did this guy really cause a cave in? Even more so was his lack of tact. They were in a public place, how could one be so rude and loud in a public place? Was it a Konohagakure thing to just be unbelievably rude? Oh well. Oki went to instinctively flick his fingers, before realising that doing so would result in blood on the floor. Blood on the floor, would of course, result in the wrath of Kaya. A quick change of mind, and Oki instead began wiping the blood off in his hand. He’d go to the bathroom to wash his hands before going on the mission. After all, he was actually quite tidy and clean with his hands and nails, nails more pointed than unpleasant. Not his fault he was bearlike after all, traits he was quite happy and confident about. As the very special jounin spoke, Oki just kind of nodded and listened. He didn’t have a large amount of confidence in Kashizudoto leading a mission, but his pride had already made him feel compelled to go. Completion of an A rank mission as a genin would surely make him stand head and shoulders above his rival Kokai, more than the literal sense that the large man currently stood over him.

Almost like a play, as Kashizudoto left the building, Yusuke re-entered, carrying the tea that Kashizudoto had been rude enough to mock. In Oki’s opinion it was very nice tea. As Yusuke listened once more like an obedient animal to the words of the two women, then Yusuke, he responded with a nod. Yusuke had done nothing wrong, and as far as he was aware, neither had Oki. When the tiny genin made a statement on Kashizudoto’s mental clarity, Oki would shrug, not wanting to make a statement on the subject. Following his next sentence, Oki again shrugged. He couldn’t blame Yusuke for not wanting to go. Why would he trust someone who was as disrespectful as Kashizudoto was, let alone trust him with his life? Kashizudoto had certainly given no reason.

Yusuke’s next question was one that was somewhat rhetorical, yet at the same time, poised at Oki. With a third and final shrug, he spoke up, responding as best and most eloquently as someone hunched over could. “You are correct. But more for the sake of pride than for the challenge!” he would declare, pointing a finger at himself with a grin. “Besides, my sensei will surely be proud of me for completion of an A rank mission as a genin!” there it is. The boasting nature of the clumsy giant. Oki made his way to the door, Debu getting up and following with a plod. Upon Yusuke’s offer to stay until the rain passed, Oki simply shook his head and bowed. “Fare well my friend!” he declared, before once more exiting out into the rain, only this time, leaving with his clothes inside out. Because Oki knew how to dry himself and put on dry clothes, clearly. Back into the rain. Whatever this A rank mission was going to be, it was going to be a long day.

Long days could be fun too though.
