Mission:

Maigo

Maigo

D-rank
Maigo carried that old rusty sword about him, the same one he'd received from his sensei so long ago, and at the same time, the one he couldn't let go of. He had tried, to release himself from the bonds he knew, and yet they naturally diminished of their own accord. He'd never felt a heavy bond with the village, he did long ago when he was unaware of everything, his past and the truth around his life. But now... since learning the truth, the sharingan had consumed his life and he'd grown darker, if just a little bit. He'd lost so many people, and now months after his confrontation and ordeal with Sero, he'd come so far on his journey. It was almost too much for him to care for, the loss of a friend from long ago, at this point. But his heart yearned out even as he accepted the truth of the present, it cried tears and those mixed with his blood, distributed throughout his body. It was painful with every loss and every discovery, every bit of him had something lost and held onto smaller bits of memory.

And today was no different, tired yellow eyes looked into the mirror, he had tried to prepare for his mission and put himself in the mindset to succeed, but it eluded him. Words couldn't prepare him, his first mission back at full health and beyond that, he didn't want to speak to himself. His failure in his mind, he retracted himself from the shapeless void that was the mirror, no background reflected in it, only his face and body. He left his apartment, there was nothing more to see, his ninja tools and sword in tow, he was done and headed to the nukenin graveyard to find his targets for the mission.

It would be best to focus on the mission, not let the inner ramblings and anxieties of his mind run loose. Locate and eliminate his targets, three persons reported to be hunting down and killing anyone who appeared before them, shinobi or citizen, and the village wanted a stop put to it. That was fine with Maigo, their deaths would be simple and easy to oblidge as far as he was concerned, the trouble would be dragging them out into the open. To the south of the village, Maigo would find them, a certain path had been reported as a hot spot, running through a dense forest.

Maigo's short stroll through the area revealed a bloody and war torn land, kunai stuck into trees and slash marks left in the ground. All sorts of other horrors all the same, markings of jutsu and small burnings of chakra across the land. He slowed his walk a bit to take in his surroundings, to begin to feel out the area and prepare his mind. His heart rate would slow a bit as he controlled his breathing, any moment now, he wanted to draw them out, however he could. Slow footsteps pattered out in the night as he continued on for a few moments, slow rustles of tree leaves behind him and around him, Maigo slowed his pace to a stop and looked around.

Without warning three people shot out at him and surrounded him in a triangle with no particular orientation. Two men and one women, malice in their eyes, these were definitely his targets, and if they weren't, they were imposing an obstacle to his real mission.

The three that stood before him, two men with black hair and one woman with black hair as well, but what interested him the most was that each of them brought a wolf with them. A pet perhaps, additional defense for themselves, and perhaps to help make their attacks like that of an animal, no matter the reason. The one with an interesting arm spoke up first, a nasty smile on his face as he looked onto Maigo he spoke up with a nasty tone all the same, "You look lost stranger, it's dangerous in these parts of town you know..." he licked his lips a bit, "It'd be a shame for an.... accident to happen." he laughed a bit menacingly. The other two didn't give much of a reaction to everything going on, the woman looked on calmly and the same for the other man. Each of their wolves sat in a prowled stance and kept their eyes on Maigo, each of them as menacing as the other, except for the white wolf which stood with the woman, standing tall and proud as it looked onward. It was beginning to see that she was the ring leader of the operation of it all, and that meant that Maigo had to push the envelope a bit given that this seemed to be the group he was looking for.

"An accident, you say? That sounds like a threat..." Maigo gave as his eyes twitched between each of them. The man became a bit antsy at the notion, the first man, larget in stature spoke up, "No, it's not a threat... but I wouldn't push him too far, Shuji doesn't know how to give up or stay calm." Maigo's short smile from his taunting faded as he spoke up, "Well, I was sent out here to find a group of merry men... and women" he turned towards the woman with a seductive eye, "that have been attacking other citizens and shinobi. So the village sent me to put an end to it..." his demeanor returned to normal. The woman's eyes expanded a bit, as she snarled her nose a bit, "So the village wants to interfere in my business then... they finally recognize our strength??" she was almost yelling at this point. Each of the three drew their katana and the wolves sunk into their paws in anticipation of pouncing at him.

Maigo activated his sharingan and drew his own sword, "Well, they don't know who you are, but they've certainly taken interest in stopping the attacks at the very least... it's just too bad they sent me along to handle it..." he spoke and held his sword out in front of him. "Shuji, Shuichi! Finish him now! No mercy!" she shouted, the both of them yelled and dashed in at him, their wolves each pounced at him too. He crouched into his stance and jumped forward, swinging his sword in an arc, cutting the first wolf across the shoulder and falling back to the ground, blocking Shuji's first strike. The blood lust in his eyes were extreme, but Maigo was ready, a quick use of his sharingan to cast a quick genjutsu. Infinite Darkness was potent, he could see it in his eyes as things faded away and it was Maigo's time to start. He pushed back and cut at Shuji's neck, blood splashed out and he turned quickly to block Shuichi's strike, letting the blood splatter onto his face. Traumatizing at the very least, Maigo heard the sound of another entering the battle, the woman striking from behind him and the wolf coming up as well.

Maigo knew the problem it created, attacking in his blind spot, he pushed raiton chakra into his sword and began to spin violently, blocking out their attacks and separating them from himself.

More chakra expended, he didn't want to extend this more than he had to, and the wolves were a problem, they moved so swiftly and quietly compared to the others. He'd struck one but hadn't finished it off. Maigo finished his spin and reached around to his pouch, pulling his shuriken and kunai, he flung them away at another wolf, the kunai for one and then shuriken for the others. Then lifting his sword and letting it float in the air, he weaved together a few signs, launching the electromagnetic murder at Shuichi, and then kicking his sword at the woman. It sliced through the air as the lightning and other projectiles launched out at different targets, the kunai and shuriken missed their targets but his others landed effectively. The sword cut the woman on the face, on her left cheek as it flew paced and implanted itself into a tree, and his ninjutsu attack hit Shuichi right on target, gritting his teeth as he spoke out, "Mi..ya..ko.." Maigo didn't stick around to take note of anything.

He jumped forward and flipped in the air to build momentum, then with a heavy knee he landed on top of Shuji's neck and crushed it even further on top of his cut throat originally. He groaned out, it would effectively put him out of the game for now, and give Maigo time to come in later. The first wolf came back at him this time though, he cut at it's throat and it whimpered in response as it fell to the ground. Two more people and two more wolves left to go, and still he wanted to finish it quickly, before they could recover and escape. Though, with the damage he did to their counterpart, he didn't expect their anger to subside that easily at all. It'd be quite the battle ahead of them to finish them off once and for all...

His next move needed to be carefully calculated, he jumped back from the area and began to run in a semi-circle to get to his sword again. The wolves noticed and gave chase, the woman moved to cut him off, he needed something quick to create an advantage so he weaved together some more signs. The deceitful clone jutsu would be perfect, the wolves and woman would attack it while Shuichi would focus on recovering from that last jutsu. He followed along in its footsteps as the fake persona jumped into the air while Maigo continued ahead. The woman and wolves bought the quick transition by jumping up after his image, Maigo grabbed his sword and jumped underneath her, slashing at her throat as well, an easy fix to the situation and putting her down.

He saw it in her eyes, the sudden surprise as the steel warmed in her partners blood buried into her neck. Maigo jumped back and away as she grabbed at her neck, the wolves each charged at him as well, growling and a frantic bark from the white wolf. Maigo cut each of them down with ease, nothing to them or their efforts, it was easier than he would have imagined. It was after each cut that he heard more footsteps approaching, the last of his enemies had come to pay the piper. Maigo would put him away easily too, he'd already seen that he was below him in talent, now he just had to act on it.

He'd effectively taken the others out, removed them from the competition, though they weren't dead yet. He had one more to go and potentially a badly wounded wolf on top of that, but neither one would be a real problem in the end. He charged at him, his body moved meekly and flared with sparks of lightning, he tried to stand up and resist but it wouldn't matter much for him. That first wolf however, had just enough to move in the way and separate the two of them, Maigo cut him down without scrutiny. These dogs were nothing to him and it showed in his veractiy, three more cuts along vital areas of the beast as he finished it off. Parrying blows from Shuichi at the same time, the short exchange of blows showed his finesse in battle, nothing more than practice dummies to him at this point.

The wolf was down, cuts across its chest, neck, and front legs, there wouldn't be any help for it or any interference from it either, which meant his battle shifted entirely to finishing off the three of them as it was. Back to trading blows with Shuichi, it was childs play, with each swing, his eyes saw the movements ahead of time and outplayed him in every physical category. Maigo's strikes were faster, stronger, cut deeper than he could imagine, even with his old rusty sword. One strike parried, one cut deliver, then a second and a third. Maigo slowly cut him down to size with each movement until he couldn't compete anymore... bringing him to his knees as a bloody mess he spoke up calmly, "I hope this was something worth throwing your life away for..." and with another strike, he split the mans neck. Letting him fall to the ground, he struck again from the back of his neck and cut at the vertebrae at the top of it. Nearly instant death for him, quick, but very painful nonetheless.

Maigo had finished him off before he could respond, only capturing the instant after where his face distorted and fell sullenly into that deep slumber. Maigo did the same for the wolf that accompanied him, writhing in pain, he put the beast out of its misery. Maigo turned his attention to the others, meters away and scattered about, struggling around and moving about, Shinji was the first, another wolf nearby him as well, it seemed that his wounds were beginning to regenerate to some degree. He ignored it, it mattered not, and his body was as weak as the other mans... but this time he declined to comment, his eccentricism alone meant that anything he would have to say or realize would be wasted effort and energy for the moment. The wolf received the same treatment as the other, putting the beast out, it growled in its last moments in defiance, an admirable trait for a pet.

That detail didn't matter though, Maigo came across the last two of their entourage, the white wolf which laid in front of the woman's body and sat at the ready to attack. Maigo knew she clearly showed more skill than the others, being the pseudo-leader of the group, her wolf was also probably a bit more talented. But in the end, it was merely a pet, and still under the affect of his genjutsu at the end of it. Maigo feinted with his clone, and then struck in the blind spot of it, cutting at its mane and delivering a fatal blow which soaked the white fur crimson.

Maigo stood over the woman next, her wounds healing faster and sooner than the other mans, proving that she was more talented than the rest. "Wasted..." Maigo said calmly as he finished her off too, not gruesomely or in a violent manner, but quickly, he was never one to torture a woman. It was a courtesy really, a recognition of her skill if anything, but once it was done, he would collect up their bodies and search their person.

All that was left from there was to clean up the scene, return what he could, and report the mission as all complete. Feeling a bit colder at heart, he'd struck them all down and hadn't felt the slightest bit of grief at their loss. It was their decision to die after all, even if he did the killing.
