Kurai had been training extremely hard under his appointed sensei. They had yet to go on any missions though, Akira was extremely strict in making sure his students were in prime condition before being showcased for the village. It was a special honour, being the student of th Kage. Every time he was in the shinobi's presence he made sure to be extra observant, taking in all that he could from every meeting. Having prominent leader and fighter as a sensei was a great recipe for success. Kurai had all intentions of making the best out of the situation.

Despite not going on a team mission yet, Kurai was a well seasoned shinobi. He had been on several solo missions as well as missions where he has been teamed up with other shinobi. His problem solving and fighting ability were both above compentency. More importantly, his willingness and effectiveness working with others have gleamed on multiple occasions. Arguably his greatness weakness, was his physique. He had charka prowess and tactics that made him dangerous in combat, but getting pulled into an all out physical match never was optimum for Kurai. As a result, Kurai often used illusions to mask his aversion to full throttle physical battles.  It was the main knock on his resume that had kept his Chuunin papers at the bottom of the pile. Those days were no more though. Having been assigned to Akira Kage his physical ability was near his maximum potential. As he put his physical ability on display time and time again, he was now hopeful that he was lock for a promotion to Chuunin.

To see if his hopes would become tangible, he made his way to the Administration building, where he was schelduled to meet the Kage and discuss his promotion. The sweat that beaded on his forehead might have been confused as a result of the sun beams, but in actuality they were being caused by the anticipation of meeting with his sensei. Even though they interact regulary, he had so much respect for Akira Kage that every meeting he gave the utmost respect and always wanted to impress. Having just respect and expectations for himself naturally translated into a high level of anxiety.

He reached the Administation building. It was like he was caught in a tunnel along his trip. Visually, he seemed to only be able to focus on what was in front of him, taking in little of the familiar village hidden in the stone. This was bizarre, due to Kurai's love for scenerty and observation. Now though, it was official that his aspirations for taking the next step towards his goals were superior to his virtuosity. Perhaps they weighed the same, as having greater status in the shinobi community would give his art more merit.

Upon entering, he approached the Kage's office. Kurai was 2 minutes early. Kurai looked at his watch and waited to the time ticked down to the exact moment he was supposed to meet the Kage.

Akira had been spending the better part of the day going over reports. A great deal of missions had been completed and he preferred to look over the written reports of each one. He would calculate the payment received for things they were being paid to do such as escorting merchants versus the missions he assigned like wiping out a bandit cell in the mountains. He would keep track of the taxes merchants were required to pay and tally up the payments to the individuals who accomplished these missions. Keeping notes on the nations treasury. The bad news was Iwagakure had become more of a slum filled with corruption, murder and drugs before he rose to power. Already some snot nosed politician had come in wanting his pay off resumed for looking the other way for something or another. Akira had taken his time interrogating that one. The individual would wake up from his Coma eventually. Of course the Daimyo had not been happy at the extent of Akira's damage to the man but the man the Daimyo had sent to threaten Akira was two rooms over from the one in a coma enjoying jello since most of his teeth were missing. Sure he was playing a dangerous game testing the Daimyo like that. But the Daimyo was a lazy individual that lived large and took bribes while his people suffered. But that would be handled in due time.

The good news on the other hand was Iwa was already showing profit and it's once barren treasury was refilling. Of which the Daimyo was digging into as he saw fit. The man irritated Akira to no end. A leech on his work. But he could not act just yet. Even though he admired Ayakashi for her take over of her entire Island he was not so sure he commanded that kind of loyalty just yet. She had waited years to make her move while Akira had only been in office for a few months. Still he set the folders in a stack on one side of his desk and let out a sigh. He had an appointment coming soon. One he actually looked forward to. His student Kurai was asking for a promotion and Akira wanted to discuss it in person. So he cleared his throat before pouring himself a glass of bourbon and sipping at it to wet his lips. No cigars for the moment.

Once Kurai arrived the guards at the door shifted to look at him. One was a rather large man. His body seemed to be thicker then usual. His arm alone was the size of Kurai. But his face resembled more of a bear then a man. His finger tips ended in claws of all things. A member of the Kuma clan standing there was actually fairly intimidating. The other was a smaller man. Thin in every regard and lightly clothed. He was actually somewhat handsome but what drew the eye was the crystal coin he rolled through his fingers back and forth. A member of the Yamada clan. Neither of them were easy targets to deal with. Each with huge defensive capabilities and even higher offensive ones. Still the bigger one knocked instead of waiting for the appointment time. He then pushed open the door to let Kurai in and slammed it behind him. A brute was a brute after all.

The office itself was actually kind of homey. The doors were made of solid oak and had a white frame with crystal handles. The wall around the door was decorated with all the Tsuchikage of the past. In order from left to right top to bottom. The wall to the right of the door was a liquor cabinet with every type of drink imaginable stocked into its glass cabinets with a counter for glasses and ice available. To the left of the door was a massive fireplace with a persian rug on the floor and a glass coffee table with two couches facing each other, one on either side of the table, black and with Egyptian cotton covers. While the wall directly across from the door was lined with shelves. All with scrolls locked within them. They could be seen but some layer of chakra seemed to be creating a barrier. Just in front of the shelves that stretched across the entire wall was a stone desk carved into a beautiful array with a flat top and constructed from the chakra reinforced stone that made the walls. Three seats sat between the door and the desk. All looked comfortable enough with the leather cushions but not well worn. The seat behind the desk was red leather and made custom for him. Akira himself was in black slacks and dress boots with a dark green button up shirt and a black tie buttoned to the shirt. It looked nice while still not being easy to grab onto like a usual tie would be. Over the shirt was a white vest which was also buttoned up. His dagger was sheathed in the small of his back as well. While his hair looked to hang loose about his face but still well trimmed as was his beard. A significant change from the dojo attire.

Still as Kurai was let in those yellow eyes flashed towards him. Studying him quietly. But something in those eyes held an immeasurable intensity. As if he had been challenged by the gods themselves at some point and made them bow before him. And in a metaphorical way he had. But that was a story he would keep to himself. Instead for the moment he lifted his left hand to indicate the seats across the desk from him before speaking. His voice was warm and welcoming. Like resting your face against silk. It contradicted his eyes entirely. "Kurai. A pleasure as always to see my number one student. I heard rumor you wished to speak with me? I wonder what this pertains to?" He said with a smile that said he already knew.

One of the unique elements of Akira that Kurai had noticed since being under his tutelage was his diligence. In short, he was much more thorough than most. Kurai contrasted him with the more lax approach of the past Kages, a perception that was gained from afar unfortunately, not quite having the chance to get to know the previous Kages personally. Except for one, which was his former teacher at the academy. It was looking like fate. Destiny for Kurai to become a great shinobi. First having a soon to be kage as an instructor at the academy, and who Kurai considered a close friend. The sadistic yet, "caring", technically since he was a medic, Nanashi. If that wasn't enough to tilt the odds in his favor, his current sensei was the current Kage. And a shinobi that Kurai felt he could tailor himself after. The hopeful Chuunin could draw many parallels between the two.

The well finished and ornate doors were swung open, indicating the start of the meeting. A single exhale by Kurai appeared to enough to annoy the grizzly of a man. Who's brutish stare beamed down on Kurai. His face seemed to have a permanent scowl on it. Kurai essentially skipped in, not wanting to anger the guard anymore by his deliberate movements. He slammed the door shut behind Kurai. Akira sensei sure picks some tough looking guys. Kurai thought, remarking on the stature and appearance of the two guards. The one who let Kurai in, well, his usefulness went without explanation. Physically, he would outmatch anyone. With no use of hyperbole... a pluck from that giant would put me in a coma. The other guy, he seems interesting enough. From just looking at the smaller man's appearance that was about all he could say about him. The kage's student did realize a coin being deftly flipped and moved through his fingers. He gave a respectful nod and slight bow to them both. It was a high honor to be assigned to secure the Kage's keep.

Akira's office was roomy and well kept. There was the expected pile of paperwork, neatly placed to the side of the desk. Unexpectedly though, it seemed incredibly comfortable and inviting. Kurai could envision himself hanging out here with Akira. Even though he was a minor, perhaps enjoys a few small amounts of alcohol with a cigar and relax by the fireplace. Maybe just maybe, but at another time, right now he had a promotion to discuss. And so it would soon begin, as Akira greeted Kurai as his #1 student. Pursing his lips together so as to not smile obnoxiously. Then with a fox's smile, he jokingly inquired as to Kurai's purpose for meeting with Akira formally. Kurai looked away, stifling a chuckle. Advancing forwardsin silence now was Kurai to take a seat in the comfortable chair.

Sensei. I have been quite persitent lately as you know, regarding being promted to Chuunin. This is perhaps my seventh time bringing it up. Taking to heart your emphasis on physical excellence I have reinvented my training regime and am feeling fitter than ever, which you have witnessed. I know I have much more to learn and subsequently, I have much more to improve. However, I feel that if I'm promoted to Chuunin, it will give me a better opportunity to improve, as I will be able to lead missions and take on more challenging tasks. I ask, how can I improve my standard if I do not raise the difficulty. Sir, I ask sincerely. Have I finally reached your steep standards for Chuunin? Have I proved myself? If not... you can bet you will see me in about 2 weeks time.

Akira listened as Kurai spoke. His hands moving to his desk as his left fingers began to slowly tap on the stone. His yellow eyes seemed so primal as they stared into Kurai's own gaze. Holding him there and locking the contact like a door closing. He was more then just your average individual. He was a warrior, A medic, a politician and a business man with some playboy tendencies. But Kurai was also unique. A fighter, an illusionist, a poet and a hard worker. It was one of the things he really appreciated when working with him. Usually when he pushed people they struggled for a bit and then gave up. Their willpower broken. He wasn't overly impressed with Kurai's abilities yet but he did see the potential there. And it was the potential he intended to mold as he saw fit. Even if he had to tutor the boy one on one. He would mold the clay and see what came of it in the end. He was a little sad that his best student wasn't going to participate in the exams coming up. None of his students directly were. Iwa had so few to send. Takumi's squad seemed eager enough though. Still Akira spoke up after a moment of silence. His voice was soft as if those yellow eyes didn't belong to him. His voice was soothing while his eyes were intense.

"Oh? You think yourself prepared to be ranked up. Tell me Kurai. Do you think you could be responsible for the lives of a team? The world that is opened up to a chunnin is a harsh one. Genin days seem like the academy. Now the missions risk your life and failure means you may die or some one may die you were meant to protect. And success might border on your being willing to end lives. As harsh as it sounds the rank of Chunnin is the first step into the truth of being a soldier. That your life is going to be laid on the line time and time again. You or the enemy. You must be prepared."

He then lifted his glass and sipped at it before setting down the glass that was empty aside from the little bit of liquid in the bottom. He set it down next to the ash tray with an unlit cigar next to it and watched Kurai before speaking again. This time with less harsh truths " If you are not to afraid then I will test you abilities. Close your eyes and count to five. Once you open them you have one minute to tell me what changed and how you noticed. This is a test of your senses of course. One must be able to perceive the enemy even if blinded. Begin now."

As soon as Kurai closed his eyes Akira would let out a whistle. Reaching down next to him behind the desk he picked up an ice cube and placed it in the bourbon. The slight clink of it barely audible over the whistle. He also lit the cigar with a flick of his wrist and a match. The smell of burning cigar added to the already present scents in the air. Akira then turned the top file on his desk upside down. All within the five seconds. He would then wait to see how Kurai did.

On the surface, Kurai's request was going over well, but the tables soon turned as his sensei began stacking the deck of reasons why a promotion to Chuuni was such a difficult choice. The responsibilities passed down were not that surprising but it was certainly something to think about, and was something Kurai thought about and often. However, having it thrusts in his face like this caused him to stumble for the briefest of moments. His head fell scanning his sensei's desk, inhaling the monumentous responsibility that was upon him. It was not enough to be up for the challenge though, as it could be seen through Akira Kage's demeanor, he was also extremely calm. His position required strength and composure of the highest level. Nothing, Kurai felt, could dent his emotional armor. A smirk passed over Kurai's face as he zoomed in on the glass of bourbon he saw earlier, smiling at the level of comfortability he sat in.

I'm ready sir.

He said looking up at Akira. His Kage then offered him the challenge that would prove if he was up for the challenge. Akira would take 5 seconds to change something in the environment while Kurai's eyes were closed. Kurai would then have 1 minute to spot the changes. His interests and his brow peaked. His puzzled expression gradually transformed into a stern one. For the slightest moments that lasted as Kurai began shutting his eyes he used his keen senses and perception to take in as much of the room as possible. There was no time nor room for other thoughts, his mind had to stay focused on his senses and the characteristics of the room.

A screeching whistle sounded to obsucre his hearing of Akira's actions.  3... 4... 5...

Kurai opened his eyes. The Genin had made an asserted effort to scan the perimeter and the upper portion of the room, seeing as those were the areas that he gave the least attention to. The desk, and all things around it were pretty well processed by the delicate ninja. Nothing stood out from the upper or perimeter. He would have loved to go under the assumption that Akira didn't leave his seat, but as a Kage he was very much capable of abnormal speed as well as stealth tactics. But as Kurai continue to look around, nothing was changed, he was sure of it, unless of course he moved something behind him. Out of curiosity, he twisted in his chair to make sure. As he looked back, he heard the slighest cracking noise. His head winded back slowly, his attention eyed the glass of bourbon he had keenly observed twice, but with the noise, he was able to discern the difference. A single ice cube was added.

Seeing the change of the bourbon that lied on the desk drew him to review the other items on the desk... the stack of papers that I also observed twice. I admired the neatness and order of the stack and how they were perfectly aligned... but the top file is slightly off now... he flipped it. He continued to review the desk, now knowing that this was the area, but visually there was nothing else... First, my ears were tested with the ice cube... then my eyes... perhaps now my sense of smell. Kurai was running out of time, and his nose now was going wild, tracking and searching for any scent. But there were so many in the room. However, a slightly smoky trace was hovering... Kurai recalled his thoughts of relaxing by the fireplace with a cigar... he wasn't sure, but he eyed the cigar and could only hope that he had lit it. Kurai couldn't recall for the life of him if it was already lit, and the smell was just now being noticed, but that would be his final choice.

The first change I noticed was the ice cube added to the glass of bourbon. I came to the conclusion by the sound of the slight cracking of ice, after it settled in the drink. Next, was the turning over of the first file on the stack of paperwork. On two occasions I admired the neatness and order of the stack, with the flipping of the file, the alignment of the stack was slightly off. Lastly, only by luck... the lighting of the cigar. Upon entrance I envisioned relaxing in here with you by the fireplace lighting a cigar. This thought brought me back to the cigar, then I noticed the change. Blame my vivid imagination. Those were all the changes I observed. I apologize if I did not realize them all, but surely I did well enough?

Akira smiled in response to the answers he was given. He could not of been more proud of the student sitting there in front of him today. If anything the answers were spot on to the objective. He was actually pleasantly surprised at the overall success rate and how he managed it all within the time limit. Three out of three within one minute. Either Akira was being to simple with the tests or the boy was truly a genius when it came to observation. Personally Akira preferred to think the latter. And so even if the boy failed the other tests he would become a chunnin infiltrator to spy and gather intelligence for the more heavy hitters. His promotion was already assured but to see what kind of jobs he would assign Kurai he would need to further evaluate him. So with a nod and a moment of silence he picked up his cigar and began to puff on it. His yellow eyes watching Kurai. Wondering which test to give him next. His mind working in ways that made others look a little simple. But the test that came to mind was a simple enough one. But more difficult then the last one. As the last test would be more difficult then the one he was preparing. Still when he removed the cigar from his mouth he spoke gently. Even though the smoke coming from the corners of his mouth made him seem a little demonic.

"Very well done. Exceptional prowess with the observatory skills. A key ability for anyone in our line of work. A chunnin must be able to spot the smallest of traps and plan based on memory of the terrain. They must be able to notice if the smallest thing is out of place as lives could depend on it. But I wonder. Are you fast enough to defend yourself? Do try and catch them all."

And with his free hand he suddenly smacked the edge of the top folder and sent it and its contents flying into the air. His secretary was going to throw a fit when she had to put the pages back in order. But still as the folder hit the ceiling it seemed to dump out its contents. fifteen papers raining down from above like a small explosion had gone off. Some of them spread out but all of them in the general vicinity of Kurai. It was not an easy task to catch all fifteen papers fluttering to the floor in random uncontrolled directions. It would test Kurai's speed and reaction time. And it would tell him if Kurai was ready to be an active combat scout or not. After all an active combat scout needed to be capable of out maneuvering his pursuers. To be honest he didn't expect him to catch even half the papers but he wanted to know just how many the lad could catch before they hit the ground. He hoped to be impressed yet again.

Akira sensei seemed to be impressed by Kurai's senses. It was without a doubt Kurai's strongest attribute, his keen observational skills. As his sensei continued to speak, Kurai's hopes continued to lift as he was sure the words... congratulations... were coming soon. To contrary, Akira was never that easy. He went on to let Kurai know that being a Chuunin was more than being able to observe your surroundings and analyze. Speed, reaction time, and defending yourself were also key. His next words telling Kurai to catch them all perplexed the young shinobi at first. Shortly afterwards, when his hand smacked the desk, the words became clear. He grabbed the top folder and flung it to the ceiling. On contact, the papers inside rained down. As the papers fluttered down, Kurai came up with a quick and unorthodox method of collecting the papers.

Kurai used his doton prowess to create a large bowl of earth from his hands. The bowl was a foot deep and about 20 inches wide at the top and eight inches wide at the base. With all of Kurai's creative pursuits such as poetry, general creative writing, art, music, it made coming up with improntu plans like these almost instinctual. He ran around frantically holding the large bowl, allowing the papers to fall in. Due to his creation, he was able to capture all of the papers. Kurai sat the large bowl down and began to take the papers out and stack them neatly on the desk. Kurai was smiling, but his smile slowly faded away. He was now wondering did he just ruin his chances at being promoted to Chuunin, would his cheap trick postpone his Chuunin hopes once more. His began to shift as his speed and reaction time were being tested. Sure, he showed a little of those, but what he displayed more was creativity... No one wants a creative Chuunin. A creative shinobi does no one any good in a fight... but perhaps Akira sensei will see it differently.

I don't know what I was thinking Akira sensei... It was instinctual... Perhaps I can do another test perhaps.

Akira blinked in surprise when Kurai reacted the way he did. The test was supposed to be impossible for most individuals especially a genin. Akira himself had one technique that could catch all the papers in an instant. But instead of grasping hopelessly as papers fluttered to the floor Kurai focused his chakra. Forming a bowl in a split second. He was actually pleasantly surprised to see such innovation within his student. A bowl was going to make catching all the files much simpler. So he inwardly gave points for the use of the jutsu while only smiling a little. Leaning back in his chair as he watched Kurai organize the files once more. Still Kurai looked uncomfortable. His words made Akira chuckle a little before he shook his head. When he spoke his words were actually somewhat cheerful.

"On the contrary boy. You managed to cast a jutsu and move to intercept the targets all before the targets reached the safety of the floor. Combat is rarely as simple as being as fast as your opponent. But being able to choose the right moment and having the agility and reflexive instincts on when to use the right jutsu. As you just displayed your instincts are within your speed levels of a chunnin team leader. However sometimes there are people who can sense jutsu use and when stealth is needed sometimes your bare hands are all you have. So the final test is your strength and your endurance. I want you to break that stone bowl you created with your bare hands and no jutsu. I know it hurts but you must be physically capable and that is my test for you. If you injure your hand I will heal it and you will try again until you succeed. Begin."

Relief coarsed over every inch of Kurai. His sensei was pleased with the innovative quick thinking Kurai. The sigh of relief was promptly removed with what felt like a punch to the mid section. A test of brute strength and endurance... no chakra allowed. Perception, speed, and reaction time, all traits that he excelled in, and welcomed all tests that challenged them. On the other end of his physical spectrum though, was strenth and endurance. There was no way he could've hid the look of despair from his sensei. I have to do what I have to do. This bowl, or hollowed out boulder is immensely sturdy, at least for me... all I know is that many attempts will be needed, and even more medical attention after. Perhaps under other circumstances he would defer such a chanllenge, but this was for his promotion to Chuunin... there was absolutely nothing that would stop him, nothing other than the Grim Reaper himself. Kurai flipped the earthen bowl upside down and placed it on the ground. He didn't want it to drop in the slightest just in case his sensei thought he was trying to pull another trick and perhaps weaken the bowl a bit before punching into it. No, this was a test of his might, no trikcs, no gimmicks, just his fist and the bowl.

Rising his fist as high as he could, like a bright star it came falling down. If the star obliterated the bowl, the star would rise again in victory. Kurai finished his strike in a kneeled position. His knee was touching the floor by the time his hand connected. A muffled cry sneaked out as blood rolled down the sides of the bowl. With a hazy look in his eyes from the pain, he stood straight up. His eyes slammed shut, and then reopened violently as if being transformed. This cued anbother attempt. His eyes weren't even focused on the target, he just dropped another fist down onto the bowl. A piece of the bowl was lodged into center knuckle of his right hand. His worried look soon dissipated as he let the arm go limp and raising the other fist, and crashing down once more. Still nothing. Only thing breaking is my hand.

Defeat was written in his body language. He dropped to one knee, his head drooping. As the moments passed, his left hand grew into a tighter and tigher fist. Tightening his fist to the extreme, so tight, the sound his palm smashing together was audible. That subtle sound was quickly outshined by the primal roar that came after. Punch after punch, back to back with no breaks or loading up. After the sixth punch he could feel the structure of the bowl giving way. As he continued, he could feel the bowl breaking more and more. With one emphatic punch from his kneed position, several schisms ran along the rock bowl. As the next punch loaded up, the bowl shattered, but Kurai was so far entranced that the punch rained down regardless, smashing into the solid floor. The pain that followed from that punch knocked all the moxy out of kurai and he fell over to his side, both his hands twitching in numb agony. Pieces of earth were lodged into several parts of his hand. His hands were also swimming in a crimson lake of his own blood. Kurai looked up with a delierious expression from the pain and loss of blood. You're the strongest medic, Akira sensei. Show it maybe. Kurai was obviously out of his mind demanding the Tsuchikage to do anything.

Akira simply watched as the boy set the bowl down on the ground. It looked like he was hesitant to do what he was being asked. For a moment Akira wondered to himself if Kurai was going to admit he couldn't do it. It was after all something common individuals would be incapable of doing. A fist unless trained otherwise was always weaker then a stone. One would surely break their hand before ever breaking through stone. But Shinobi surpassed the limits of the minds of commoners every opportunity they had. Managing feats at first thought impossible. And the higher the rank of the individual the more the impossible was expected of them. Many thought Akira to be an unstoppable force. Something the mountain of corruption and the army of wicked men could not stop. He was a savior to those who suffered under the hand of aggression and evil. He was the light that would smite the filth from the nation. Some even claimed he was secretly a god that had seen the mountain in need of help and disguised himself as a mortal. But truth was Akira was but a man. He could be made to bleed if he wasn't careful. But it was important the people kept faith in him.

Still he was broken from that line of thought as Kurai began to punch the bowl. He was trying which was what Akira had wanted to see. Still it was painfully obvious the boy was not yet trained to be able to handle the durability of stone. Still instead of giving up he watched with deep yellow eyes as again and again Kurai hit the stone. He smirked and thought to himself he was glad he didn't have the entire office carpeted. Stone was easier to remove the blood from. Still he watched Kurai roar with a passion and finally break the bowl. Only to hit the floor beneath. Akira winced a little before he listened to Kurai speak. He moved over and quietly tapped on finger to Kurai's forehead before transferring chakra too him. As if it was a faucet the green chakra poured from his finger tip and lit Kurai's entire form up with a rushing green light. The pieces of stone pushing out of his hand and the fractures and open gashes healing to pink skin. Barely sensitive at all. Though the blood remained. Akira picked up on of the larger pieces of stone in his hand. Before pressing his thumb against it and cleanly snapping it in two without really straining himself. He then spoke quietly. His tone some what filled with approval.

"There will be tasks you come across that seem impossible for a man to accomplish. Things exist in this world that no amount of chakra or intelligence can break through. You must be prepared for the people, your team and yourself to break through anything that stands against you. Even if others say it can not be done you must be willing to try. Before a man may have said a boy could not break through stone with his bare knuckles. But now you know you can. Now, Go get yourself cleaned up and celebrate. Oh and do inform the secretary I need the office tidied up would you?"

With his eyes nearly shut, he was able to make out a glowing green light hovering over him. A wave of relief rushed through his body. His ears were then met with a calm voice, from his sensei. He gave Kurai words of wisdom and encouragement. As the wounds dissipated, his eyes widened. Akira requested that he get cleaned up and celebrate... wait... celebrate... "Cele... celebrate. Of course! And I'll pass the message on to the secretary as well about cleaning up." Like a rabbit, he hopped to his feet, and ran out with glee. Upon exiting, his eyes welled up with joy, but also a certain pain in his eyes was present too. As the sensation and memory of the chips of earth lodging into his hand, and him going on the brink of passing out, it brought along with it a searing pain in his eyes that caused him to cover them with his hands. He didn't know what this meant at the time, but he was sure to find out soon.

He fetched the secretary as requested then commenced celebration.
